at what cost? they are not at the point they can throw 6 picks at a goalie.

if you want a new goalie to pair with froggart, id look at thowing a late pick to guelph for slavik the import. release eichler and take whoever you have lined up at the top of the import draft.
I guess I view it as I would rather move picks for a 2 year solution. If the team isn't great you can recoup picks. I would rather give up picks in that situation than a 2nd and 3rd for a stop gap OA. Both can be true and I like your idea as well.

if your gonna give up 6 picks for a goalie, you should do it after you see if any of your kids are gonna be good. i only saw the us kid at silverstick but he has just as much upside as most kids in the draft.

I can agree with this for picks but if he was to play in the states this year do we know if he would be ready 25-26?

I know that there was talk last season about "what if Windsor was able to get one of the Mississauga goaltenders." Would it happen? You're not going to get Ivankovic but Leenders wouldn't be out of the question.

Regarding Savard - has a coach ever left an OHL team for the NHL, only to return two seasons later? If he ended up back here, I wouldn't complain.

I really think it will be Costanzo with Froggett if Windbiel can play and get reps in the US. Chicago's close enough… and if that's a possibility he could play 10 games before carding him right? 10 Games/Starts for a 16 year old goalie, is much more valuable than 4th line minutes for a Jr. B kid that gets the call up.

Can Windbiel be sent back to Chicago even though he's signed with Windsor?

As far as I knew, once he signed with Windsor, he was with Windsor. If there's an option to send him back while he's still signed, it's good to know.
nope, the only limits are assigning him locally. american kids sign and go back to the us all the time.

That's what I figured. So one of Lemieux or Hicks will be in LaSalle for most of the year??
i would put both there. lemieux may be good enough to play top 9. newbury will push for him to stay.

6 picks for a tender? Seems steep to me. Haven't followed the thread but no way I do that unless they are all after the 4th rd lol and ya get a few years.
Gs tend to move for a lot less than 6 picks, no? (unless it's a SSM n Campbell situation ;))

What about defense...

how many teams need a goalie right now?

erie, maybe brantford, kingston, maybe sarnia.

high end rentals cost that much, so a two year goalie would be that for sure.

but i agree, run with what you have, you should be good enough to get into the playoffs with it and then decide if you need to pay for a higher end guy. worst case you can get an 05 as an overage for a 3/5th or something.

I know, we know, everyone knows, defence has to improve. Let me ask this - did you enjoy going to the 2022 OHL Championship? It's a simple yes or no.

Windsor has extra picks; a couple of seconds, a third, and a fourth, along with another piece to sweeten it, might not be out of the question.

the current roster and prospects are not high end enough to throw away pics on one position.

Ya, I'd go with the last option if in need after season starts.
Not many high end Gs move with 2 years eligibility left do they? I'm not sure.
And which was the last to go for 6 picks?

i hope they 'raise the bar' a bit wit the bottom of the roster players like martin, greenwall, winegard, etc. they are the same players as they drafted a few years ago and should be moved on (waived to be honest) for better, younger players.

no none because few teams have 2 guys like mississauga does. i would guess its 5/6 picks because look at what outwater went for and leenders would be much better/impactful. there are too many teams that need goalies.

A simple yes or no question.....Are you satisfied as a Spits fan they have won a PO series in only 1 year in over a decade?
See, both ?s i posed n you asked are loaded. And don't help the convo.
It's obvious they should look to team build as opposed to wasting surplus picks on a 2 yr tender. Which may not even be in their next "window"

BB preached year 1 having a consistently competitive team.
That was reasoning not going all in with Wyatts squad.
That flipped the next year to going all in and not having any PO success ( and I agreed with aggressive management at that time, they just failed but it went against BB public philosophy and cost them IMO )
I think many approaches can work if done right....Sell/buy cycle, build a consistent team without the big lows, throw darts at a board n hope......
Gotta pick a lane n stay in it gor more than q season and dropping multi picks on a 2 yr tender before a season starts even if you have the picks would be another flip.

why does one have anything to do with the other?

He's complaining about the defence but, when Savard was here, the defence wasn't bad and they went to the OHL Championship. I'm sure he enjoy that segment of it,

A simple yes or no question.....Are you satisfied as a Spits fan they have won a PO series in only 1 year in over a decade?

In general, yes, I'm satisfied as a fan. (though, I realize the non "yes or no" answer would be far more complicated and likely diverging into a topic that's been beaten to death on here)

i hope they 'raise the bar' a bit wit the bottom of the roster players like martin, greenwall, winegard, etc. they are the same players as they drafted a few years ago and should be moved on (waived to be honest) for better, younger players.

I can see Martin being given a shot on a lower line but I don't see Greenwell, Winegard, Toms, or Struthers returning. There's no point.
