Spits are now two wins away from clinching the division, meaning we could do that before London, regardless of what Sarnia does. 3 Wins gets us the conference, so we’d have to at least split with London (unless London picks up a loss before then or Kit takes the W next Sunday)

Costanzo looked solid, well deserved shutout. If he’s healthy, makes no sense not to start him tomorrow. Im sure they need to give O minutes and because of that… I roll Costanzo tomorrow, Onuska Wednesday, Costanzo until we clinch.

Honestly, defense looked great. Being down so many top guys, it’s hard to have a run and gun shootout style game. Glad they buckled down in their own zone. While Soo had 33 shots, most weren’t quality chances, and the two big opportunities they had Joey came up big.

Kinda funny that Windsor and London have the worst records in the past 10 games in the Western conference if the 8 teams contending. Clinch early play soft by both?? Good news is the Spits have gotten it done with a short staff for a couple if weeks now. Heading in the right direction. Get them again tomorrow. Go Spits!!

I missed the entire game because of work but was able to keep track online. Great to see Joey get the shutout and props to the leaders for leading such a short lineup. I know some at the WFCU have grumbled about Maggio being out there... "of course they're going to give him the puck." Well, when you're leading the league in points and doing anything to help the club win, there could be a whole lot worse scenarios. Maggio with another two points, as did Harrison, and Wright with a single goal. Your leaders are stepping up when they need to... that's what you want to see.

The message now has to be get the win on Saturday and clinch the division ASAP. Sarnia doesn't have a tough road so take advantage when the chance is there.

Hope Sobelev is OK. He is really a factor when he is out there. Team plays a lot different without him.

Nice earned shutout for Costanzo. You could see the team wanted that for him. Every player on the ice was diving to block shots at the end. Soo pulling their goalie down 3 with a little more than 3 minutes to play showed they were wanting to take that from him. How did that work out?

Call ups played a regular shift last night and held their own. You can see why Brickett almost made the team this year. Marc used them a lot in the last 10 minutes . That helps them from not burning out the top players. Not sure if they will play tonight or return to the jrb playoffs. LaSalle got beat up in their first game so that series may be over next week.

It will be a tough one tonight. SOO won't be happy about being shut out. Not going to be shocked if Onuska starts.

Hard for a team to draw fans when you have already been eliminated. Watching the game I was thinking a large number of fans must have dressed up as empty seats for St Patties Day!

Go Spits Go!!!

I hope Maggio fills the net tonight. It is a tremendous opportunity to win the scoring title and most goals, and would be a crying shame to come this far without finishing the deal.

He has played terrific hockey to date, has set a great example for his teammates, and should go down as one of The Spits finest captains.

I would think that any coach would reward a shutout with the start in the next game. If you don't, look at the message your are sending. Every coach says you earn your playing time. So, OK Coach, if a shutout doesn't earn the next start, what does?

Sayiny that, I agree, would not be surprised if Onuska starts tonight. Disgusted, but not surprised.

They usually sit joey after he plays well

It’s a rare night where I’m rooting for Flint as they’re at home vs. London.

A regulation W from Flint tonight means we can clinch before we play London Friday if the Spits take care of business in the Soo and vs. Guelph, which I think is realistic

I've always thought this season since pre XMas the conference was Windsors to win/lose. I still think they will earn that #1 seed. Then the hard work starts.
The additions bolstered that thinking. It's in their hands, they just gotta close it out. They control the final standings n 2nd rd matchups, kudos to the org .

Onuska is starting, makes zero sense. Constanzo is 5th in the OHL in GAA and save %, he has better numbers than Gaudreau of Sarnia. Peer remains out.

The only reason I can see for Onuska starting is to see how he does with a team that wants revenge.

Only difference in lineup is Dionicio moves back to D while Jodoin moves up to third line.

Agree. How do you expect goalies to elevate their play when there is no reward for it. I've always been the belief to run a quick horse until their performance says otherwise. If they are rotating goalies regardless at least we have Joey for 2 of 3 this coming week.

Clearly Marc sees Onuska as the goalie he wants ready for the playoffs. I sure hope this does not backfire on him.
Totally irrational by Savard. Of any goalie that has played 30 games, Onuska is statistically one of the worst goalies.

The impression I've gotten from Savard is two-fold... 1) he wants both goaltenders at their best for the playoffs... and 2) he's going to pick a starter before it's all done. Giving Onuska this game allows him to face a team that's going to be angry after last night. Combined with a (likely) tired Windsor team and that's a challenge. We KNOW what Joey could do in this situation. It's time to test Onuska. Then again... I could be way off...

Onuska allowed 5 goals on Thursday. Costanzo allowed 0 goals last night. Anyone else having trouble with this?

They’ll find a way to give Onuska two of em. Could write it off as “resting Joey” …. until Onuska starts Game 1 too.

Nothing personal against the kid. Onuska is a fine goalie.

But this goaltending rotation is STUPID. There’s a #1 goalie on this team. And he’s on the bench

Yeah, with Joey we could have our depleted forwards score 3 goals and walk away with 2 points.

Where can I place money on OHL games? I’ll put money on needing more than 3 goals to win this one…
