You guys have no idea how much Lightning fans hate the Turds, and how much true hockey fans across the US appreciate the Oilers game. Personal support and rooting for the Oil is 70-30 . Even the Kuch boys in Tampa appreciate what 97 brings to the game. (well maybe, its similar to you guys and the Flames eh?)

I find Knoblauch confusing when he talks about J Skinner. The “things didn’t really go as well as we would of liked schtick”.

I don’t really have a problem with him sitting out in the playoffs. We have gotten guys back and we got a lot of bodies. The depth is playing well. Furthermore Florida probably isn’t an ideal series for Skinner and neither was LA and Vegas.

But I still don’t understand why he was deployed the way he was especially in the second half of the regular season. Knoblauch probably has his reasons but really its just baffling stuff.

It's gotta be personal. Skinner has been fine defensively for awhile and has been absolutely fantastic on the forecheck...like seriously awesome.

Last game he had one bad shift getting a puck out and then defending but the rest was good. Particularly....the forecheck. His goal was a result of his pressure, and on another shift where he made an exceptional play and we almost scored.

He's definitely been more effective in his limited time than Frederic but we all know who Knobby will choose

We can't get too down if we lose game one or split at home BUT the important thing is WE MUST split at home

Go down 0-2 at home in my opinion and this series is over

Yeah, last year goes both ways.

We can't mess up and fall behind again, but FLA knows they cannot let off of the gas either and let us back in a series (if they are actually up)

Rogers Place is a great arena in itself, and I'm fond of it because that's where the Bolts won a cup (only one we didn't win on home ice). But if the Oilers can win the cup on home ice, the Panthers losing a cup final there will make me like it all the more.

And I will always always have a soft spot for the Lightning for beating Calgary in 2004. Very much appreciate y'all defeating the godless fLames.

I am curious how they are going to call this series. When Toronto played FLA, they were handing PP's out like candy to TO and FLA.

FLA has played 1 more game than EDM and has 16 more PP's this playoff run.

In general, we probably want it more 5v5. Our PK has not been the best. I don't know what it has been after those first 2 LA games

Whether or not he did it's funny to see him out in the first round with worse stats than Stuart Skinner when certain people around here were posting about him ad nauseam throughout the season.

Maybe next year HFOil will learn to wait until the playoffs before anointing certain front offices as geniuses/failures.

We have now seen how much things can change come playoff time. What if Pickard could not save Stu 2 years in a row? Might not even have gone past the 2nd round (or first) for 2 years straight.

Look at Helly.

Nobody in their right state of mind would have picked Skinner over Blackwood from what they saw this season. It was not even a comparison.

Thank god Stu has stepped it up. I would like nothing more than to see him win a cup. Going forward, I would still like him to be in tandem with another guy (if not Pickard) instead of overpaying him. Cup or no cup.

Girard kicking in that wraparound that wasn't even close to going towards the net was nuts. The hockey gods blessed Mikko for a week and a half. 9-8-17 in 6 games. 0-4-4 in his next 8 games.

Fun to look back on that game now, since we turned Mikko from Conn Smythe favorite into a ghost

The Blackwood trade was still fantastic GM work imo.

The Rantanen trade is what sank them. You can’t drop a nuke like that in the locker room and expect to win the cup. Rantanen was their best players right hand man… just absurdly stupid.

They did glazed a lot and I was one of the glazers lol. Not just this year. I think their cup is the only Time they passed the second round? Didn't Washington do the same.

The more I watch our team (been watching since 1990), the more I am learning to be even keel.

I swear the older I get, the more hockey anxiety I get. This team continues to prove me wrong..

He was excellent last game. Outside of that one mistake on the Robertson 1st goal he was 3-1 in GF/GA, and had ridiculously good CF%, SCF%, SF%, HDCF%, and xGF%.

Got approached by some people on the street in Omotesando today. I was wearing Oiler colors as you do when the SCF are near, and they made an absolute beeline for me. Elderly couple from Finland. So nice to speak with them for a few minutes. They said they are big time Oiler fans and that we are definitely winning it all this year. Super polite and very knowledgeable about the Oilers. They were proud to see that Kapanen has found a little niche on the club. I thanked them for taking time to speak with me and said ‘god bless Jari Kuri and Esa Tikkanen’.
