Best way to develop goaltending talent at this age is to have them play games, doesn’t matter where, in my opinion.

Don’t think we’d see Froggett develop as well riding the pine to Costanzo, I think it’s better for him to start as many games as possible in junior B, and hope for the occasional call up to the O.

I’d argue that costanzo rode the pine, played 17 games and ended up great. I think there are way too many successful goalies who played less then 25 games at 16 and were great .

even last year, carter george played 17 jr b games and 10 ohl games. I’d argue that did way more for him then playing 40 midget games.

practicing and playing against older players is just as valuable if the player is as good as we expect him to be.

Frogett was 17 this past April. Joey has a July birthday which made him slightly even younger when started. Dipietro played 29 games as a 16 yr old. Michelone has a total of 12 ohl games and is now 19. gaa of 5.91 in 2 games with the Spits and 4.8 or somethingwith Flint. Whether we're contenders this year or developing the future a unproven risky19yr old backup is not the answer imo. Time to see what the younger prospects can offer out of the gate as a backup to Costanzo. The backup can be the difference maker when Joey is off for a night in a tight division.

This is billy paying michelone back for something!!! Mark my words. Frogett could say FU to billy and the way hes been handled it wouldn’t surprise me. Dig a bit deeper guys. Theres some serious character flaws in our gms office!!

No politics in Player selection is necessary ........players, parents, agents will avoid a team if not.
IMO a 19 year old rookie goalie has been proven to be ineffective.....wait until preseason is over to see how this shakes out

Preseason roster is up on website
Also roster assignments mentioned.
Should mention Carter Frogett is 1 of 3 goalies listed, other 5 at camp reassigned.
Only reassignment that surprised me were dman Gage Evan's and winger Nathan Gaymes.
Surprises still here would be winger Kyler Morgan and Evan Hjelholt though I thought Hjelholt played well.
31 guys on the list, with 25 guys on the assigned list.

Just a note - the preseason roster (as I am typing this) is the same one that's been up for a few days now. It's not full (only Costanzo is listed as a G, for instance).

Maybe billy thinks michelone has some trade value?!?! Not sure why but thats the only reason he should be here. I do see some increased team grit, but its from young guys (rookies). Ideally id like to see a trade for another gritty guy with some experience. The rest has pretty much shakin out as expected.
This goalie thing really threw a bunch of people not just us here. Most everyone ive spoke to figured Frogett was a shoe in and liked the idea of him being here.

Another year, another G convo that'll probly play out for discussion all year.
Not saying good or bad but it looks like the 3rd year in row this will play out.

Can't see him much value at all but ya only need 1 team to bite. Unlikely, but......if the plan is to showcase and flip him I'd question it.
If the staff feels he is best presence in the room and best BUG than ya keep him.
Seems odd thou from the outside how this has played out. Leading me to believe something Teflon posted on more than 1 occassion is true. But JMO.

Something must be lurking in the weeds to play out as it is so far. Always a bizarre controversy. Shouldn't be this difficult. Onuska vs Medina, Onuska playing when Costanzo excellent, now back up to Costanzo is a another debacle, so far

Could be the scenario someone spoke of, lack of experience for Frogett…. If thats the case tho, how do you explain it to michelone when they decide frogett is ready?? Murky waters for sure. I do know this were not likely to hear the reasons til it happens if at all. Thats what happens when GM’s are so secretive, people talk. If your clean thats no issue, if your not…..

Just noticed Carter Froggett was in goal for the London Nationals tonight in an exhibition game vs St. Andrew's College, they lost 13-4,Froggett played 2 periods (1st 2) allowed 7 goals on 37 shots, 2 goals on the PP,the other goalie for London allowed 6 in his 1 period as London was outshot 50-26
Interestingly Paolo Frasca who was here in Windsor played 10 minutes for St Andrew's in the 2nd and allowed 0 goals on 5 shots, only time he played all game.
Got a find a way to get Carter Froggett out of London imo.

When the General Manager is all about secrecy....the only thing fans can do is speculate or wonder if there more or less to a situation.

To be fair, when Rychel was the GM, we STILL speculated and wondered. It's human nature to go "what about this or this?" In this situation, unless Bowler says "this is specifically what's going to happen", you're going to have guessing games... and I don't think any GM would know the answer right now.

Hope everyone had a good summer. Sort of glad to see a new coach. Savard did a lot of good things but was stubborn and the squad needs more defensive structure. I am willing to give Smith the benefit of the doubt.

I think if the players continue to progress, the squad can finish 4th in the conference, but a lot would have to go right and it depends who is shipped out. Most of the mock drafts I see have Cristoforo and Greentree going in the 1st round. I believe Spellacy could be a 2-4th round pick if he develops. Another player I think could have a breakout season is Cole Davis but apparently, he's injured.

Context. Don't let it get in the way of reading stat lines lol.
Who played.
How good were opponents ops.
Has he practiced much with team.
Did the top D play.
New systems.

I haven't been a fan of what has gone on with the Nats in recent years ( and yes I know alot of inner situation(s) but basing an opinion publicly based on a stat line with no context) .......odd, often inaccurate....same old same old. Same as the goalie in camp you proclaimed as a " helluva" goalie based solely on some numbers with no context.

Geesh if the Spits lose a game it's travel, schedule, injuries, factors, refs
........your new fav future G gets lit up it's get outta dodge without context lol.

You support him playing JrB, getting time n reps......here ya go.

It was an exhibition, with a team he hadn't been with on the regular as Spits camp played out, against a team that( why bother explaining lol) after maybe being told he ain't in the early season plans for WS even thou most ( you inclided) figured he had earned the BUG spot and it made sense all around.
Give the kid a break before making up excuses after a single exxy where he was in a tough spot. ( unless of course you bashing the Nats for the sake of Bashing the Nats )
He will be fine, if he is good enough.
If he got lit up in a Spit exxy under the same circumstances you would never say get him outta there lol.

froggett broke camp with the team, michellone will be a 3rd goalie, as it should be, he already has proven he cant be an ohl goalie, not his fault but very limited.
