Eligible how when he didn’t play the minimum number of games last season? Sorry if I missed a prior discussion.

Hockey feed reported 1 day ago that Ron Francis spoke on a recent athletic podcast that" the Kraken have been granted an exception to the NHL-OHL transfer agreement allowing Wright to begin the season with AHL Coachella Valley " but I have not seen an official announcement yet.

Back in late July, at a press conference (for a different reason), Bowler was asked about a rumour regarding Wright being only NHL/OHL. At the time, Bowler said that, as far as he knew, it was AHL/NHL/OHL. Nothing has been said since.

Bowler so few words...

Is Wright gone for sure? Or a slim chance he returns?
Unless he makes Seattle this is his other option. If he’s not going to be great for Seattle right from the gate it might be best to get him somewhere where he can play in all situations. Last year the guy was injured so much and that’s pretty much been the story of his career thus far. Injuries and Covid seasons. What could’ve been

They have to play 3 seasons of 25games or more to be eligible for ahl I believe. Wright fell short last season by 1 game. Not sure if they’ll make an exception for him however rules are rules.

it was granted about 3 weeks ago, i posted it was but cant remember when

I also read recently where Ron Francis said he would wait and ask for a waiver if Shane Wright doesn't make the Kraken. Maybe privately Francis has been told Wright he would receive an exemption if needed but publicly CHL not addressing it now keeps the agreement in tact if Wright makes the big club and sticks. Save face.

4life is correct. Exemption in place if needed. They are trying to avoid talking about it unless he doesnt make the show. They know its going to create a bit of an uproar… “He will not play in the O this year”. My info was worded exactly that way.

Also keep in mind the OHL granted Wright exceptional status as a 15 yr old so if they stick to the transfer rule and say he can't play pro yet kind makes their original exceptional status a bad decision for being granted in the first place. Unlikely to happen especially over a technicality. Just like the 20 game AHL waivers during covid. I'd be shocked to see the OHL stick to their guns over a agreement the NHL already deems archaic.

Y’all watched him a lot in Windsor

I know very little about the Seattle roster so I can't say. In my opinion, he needs a full season at the OHL or AHL levels to get back on track. Last season was a giant cluster in terms of injuries and getting out of routine. Having him in one spot, two max, may go a long way.

is Wright good enough to crack that Seattle roster?
Yes but not the top 6, maybe not even the top 9. Not sure if they want him on the 4th line he wouldn’t be developing too well there only playing single digit minutes per night

Greenwell and Winegard just signed with the Spitfires.
Should note with the official announcements re Greenwell and Winegard signing its makes a total of 6 that have signed from the 2021 draft.
The 1st 3 drafted that year were traded last year,Miedema, Ride and O'Flaherty, while Ethan Martin drafted in the 4th though signed 2 years ago is being counted on to be a contributor this season.
Should also mention with the expected announcement of goalie Carter Frogett signing it makes 6 players signing from last year's great draft,Christoforo, Greentree, Spellacy,Davis and Woodall the other 5,and frankly would not shock me if dman Trevor O'Dell is announced as signed as well as next year forwards Jack Dean,Nathan Gaymes, dman Gage Evan's and goalie Paolo Frasca if are inked, making a total of 10 or 11 which out of 15 would be amazing.

I'm not expecting that many to sign but if they can get Froggett signed, plus Gaymes, Evans, and maybe Frasca, you're doing well. It could turn out to be one of the better pairs of draft classes they've had since the Windsor Arena days. Mind you, there's a LONG way to go and I'm not counting on anything... but...
