Goals are more important than assists.

Offcourse you pay for both , but if one player scores 20g 80 ass and the other 60g 40ass and otherwise is fairly equal. The goalscorer will get more money, if it is likely they continue on that same path.

Yes, sometimes it is. Sometimes, the most important play doesn't even get a point at all. Points are imperfect in general.
But at least the secondary assist stuff comes from somewhere. Diminishing primary assists isn't supported by anything.

All else equal, you'd pay a 30-10-10 guy pretty similar to a 10-30-10 guy.

Depends on the player and what other skills he brings to the table.

That is pretty crazy sounding. 30 goal scorers fetch a premium because, now get this. They make the 10 30 guy possible and the skill to score is more rare than the skill to get an assist. This is true and self evident if only because every goal generates up to 2 assists.

Goal scores alway are worth more than the assist guy because scoring is……..Hard. Making a pass is much easier
