We need assists as well as goals but they are only worth 1/2 as much.

I always heard of 20 goals player but never heard of 20 assists player.

Goals are more important than assists.

Goal can be unassisted
But
Assist cannot be ungoal, lol

If you miss the goal by 1meter ( 39.3700787402 inches) you will probably not get a goal , but you could get 1st assist.
