With Nylander Im expecting more out of him knowing that the talent is there. When he holds back thats when its frustrating. What I did notice last game he looked what I expect out of him when he's on his off wing. Maybe that's where he should be playing

100%. He tends to use more of the rink when he is on the left.

Agreed. I still remember being thankful Virtanen was selected before us so we could take either Ehlers or Willy, wasn’t upset about either one. I was still a little scared they’d take Ritchie but from the pre-draft talk they were focused on talent over size for once

Listen we do not know why Willy was late to a meeting. But in the end they will figure it out. To say Willy is not committed is horrible by some stating so. The guy came off a one week layoff due to COVID and was double shifted after the Hyman injury cause he was the best player on the ice.

Those that are critics of his defensive game really didnt watch the last game. He was the best player on the ice at both ends of the rink. For someone that missed a week he had more legs then anyone on the ice. He carried his line both offensive and defensively.

If he sits I am ok with that. He was late to a meeting and that happens. But to whip him like he's nothing is just wrong.

Definitely fair to knock him for being late to a meeting. Though less so for the covid one, it's pretty easy to come into potential contact to an exposure during a pandemic. Quite frankly I'm surprised it hasn't happened more frequently since it can happen so inadvertently

He was our best player last game. Making a mistake doesn’t make you unprofessional or lazy. I’m sure he knows it was wrong and it’s not repeat behaviour, so let him off with a warning and don’t bench one of your best players.

Some people will overlook literally anything with him which I don't understand. Just be objective.

I'll be the first to tell you he was one of our best players last game but missing a meeting when you're paid millions of dollars is pretty inexcusable. I'd sit him for a game, set a precedent.

It doesn’t look good for Nylander in getting outside the contact bubble somehow and then late for work. Nothing worse than late for work. People just don’t want to deal with it. I would rather call in and b.s that I’m sick than go in late the couple times it happened to me.

I don’t think it’s a really big deal but people will make it a big deal in media from now on. These vultures are pr!cks don’t forget. See how many times they bring it up from now on.

OP is lumping in him having to go into Covid protocol as being unprofessional off the ice.

He should probably sit a game just like Kadri and Kapanen had to do for missing a meeting but blaming him for the Covid stuff when you don't know the entire context is a little extreme.

Reasonable take without knowing the specifics.

Though his explanation “We’d got back from the road (April 6 after a trip to Calgary) and I met somebody who tested positive the next day” did cause me to "raise an eyebrow" over what he meant.

Maybe COVID made them a bit angry but they wanted to show Nylander how they protect their own, however then he missed the meeting and they said "enough is enough" your losing your invincibility Nylander, we no longer will be fully protecting you.
