What am I trying to "bait" you into doing? You are very confusing.
I literally used your exact words so I'm not sure why you're throwing a fit.
You brought up "money", (how much they make). What do you mean I'm "throwing around a cap hit thinking it has shock value to get your point across"? I added how much they make because that seems relevant when discussing who is worth their contract. But maybe that's just me.
You're comparing nylander's cap hit against multiple defensemen and goalies, then looking at where he sits for points and claiming the high ground? My goodness.
Nylander has the 44th highest cap hit among forwards. He is tied for 25th in scoring but is tied for 39th in ppg, both among forwards. So 5 spots higher than his cap hit.
Marner has the 5th highest cap hit among forwards. He is 20th in points and 11th in ppg, both among forwards.
That doesnt take into account playing on the penalty kill or the fact that the first year of nylander's contract was a complete waste while marner is immediately producing.
Here is your original post.
"Nylander is a stud, it was just a matter of time before he finally broke out, well worth the money."
Here you clearly state nylander (73 point pace) is a "steal" for 7 mil.
"As for Marner, while he received too much at the time, under Keefe he's been scoring at close to a 120 pt pace, which would justify the money at least if he kept it up. Still not a great deal but certainly looking better now."
This is the good part. Here you say marner has to keep up a 120 point pace to justify the money and that it's still not a great deal.
Nylander's play this year is fair to even good value for his contract. I have been hard on nylander in the past but he has been much better this year. You don't win comeback player of the year (mid way) for nothing.
But to say his is a steal while marner's is not great value, even if hes scoring 120 points, is a very bad take.
