second 30g season. many more to come.

there was a time when we'd kill for that kind of offense.

atta boy willy. keep it up. and heating up right in time for a strong playoff push.
I just checked.

Willy would have finished either first or second in team scoring from 2010-2019.

You are right. We pined for anyone besides Phil to do anything for years.

Now half the fanbase wanta to fire him to the moon

Weird year, thought he started out like he left off in the playoffs and then had a slow spot in the season.

Clearly he and JT just didn't mesh, he's gone to a separate line where he's the driver and think he's been a bit better for it.

30 goals though.

I really feel we need a pass first winger for the second line. A Patrick Kane type :P

I love the perimeter narrative. Then look where he scored his second goal last night. And many others like that.

Honestly, some blowhard like Kypreos can say one thing and years later people stick to it even after they've been proven wrong countless times.

His offensive stats look good this year, but the -13 rating is ugly considering how good Toronto is this season. I think it has more to do with bad luck than his defensive play, although he has had some defensive gaffes.

Overall, he's had a good season for his salary. Hopefully he has another strong showing in the playoffs.

Crazy isn't it? I think having guys like Matthews and Marner makes Willy underappreciated. If Nylander had the same consistency as a guy like Marner he too would be in and around the same level as Marner. Maybe one day he gets to that level. If he doesn't you still have a PPG winger capable of putting up 40 in any given year. That is absolutely a fantastic player to have.

If Nylander cements himself as a ppg regular season winger and a guy who turns it up for the playoffs (remember, he goes from a guy who doesn't hit in the regular season, to throwing his body around in the playoffs) I think you can be happy with that.

I think unless Marner goes like 0 pts in 7GP, 88 likely draws the short straw in terms of a big 4 player being liquidated.

While his plus/minus is off, he has been on the ice for 106 Goals scored and only 74 goals against for the year.

He has a career low save percentage while on the ice. Part of that could be his lazy play at times but it is also a bit of bad luck.

He has a career high in takeaways and he does come back to play D more than he gets credit for.

All this and he is a 30 goal scorer and damn near PPG.

He would be the leading scorer on 13 teams and second on 9 more.( Granted he might lose a few points not being on the #1 PP)

I tend to think othereise. He might have more points. The PP runs through Marner and Matthews while Nylander would be the trigger man on almost every other team.

He also seems to score more off the rush away from Tavares as his speed allows him to vet in behind the D. Too often he will pull up looking for JT to get in the zone instead of just going to the net and shooting.

Away from JT he drives the net or shoots from 10 feet out.

Spot on. Today he was the trigger man and we saw how lethal his shot was in that 5v3 and the subsequent 5-4.

Willy, the heat is on!

If Willy can stay on this edge for another 29 games it may not even take that many;) if y'know what I mean

If all hands are pulling oars, this team could do something special.

Willy has never shied from the dirty areas.

But he does sometimes look lackadaisical out there, if he didn’t he’d have probably close to 90 points now and not 74, his next contact would be 10.5 and not 8.5ish.

He looks great lately though.
