Cuylle is worlds better than Kreider was at the same age. And tougher. He has a hard shot and is hard to move in front. Our long term answer to Brady T & Wilson types.

The thing I like about his style of play is that he can be a real difference maker in the playoffs when things get physical. He can score a greasy goal when it counts. And he's willing to hit on nearly every play.
And to think all they dealt for the draft pick to select Cuylle was Lias Andersson. What a steal. Rangers need to make more sneaky trades like this

Another way of looking at it: The draft is a crapshoot.
Sometimes draft picks work out, sometimes not. The amount of luck you need increases with each round. Does that mean it's a crapshoot? Kinda yea. But there's still some skill involved. I'd say in the first two rounds, it's like 50/50 in terms of skill vs luck of the front office. Higher luck vs skill is required in rounds 3 and beyond.

Absolutely, I was being a bit facetious.

In all seriousness, though, this also highlights how the Rangers seem to do much better with their 2nd-round picks as opposed to their 1st-round picks (or perhaps more accurately, low-1st-round picks and 2nd-round picks as opposed to their high-1st-round picks).

What I'm saying is: the Rangers should have traded the #7 overall for #60 straight up, and saved us all a lot of heartache.

It helps that we've stopped wasting second round picks on goalies.
Halverson, I'll give you, but I think it's too early for me to regret buying my Lindbom jersey.

In serious seriousness: Cuylle is proving to be a great pick. Already as good as I could have hoped, he seems like the kind of player who will only get better with experience.

Cuylle might be our best player on breakaways. He doesn't screw around with dekes. Just shoots.

Novel concept for the Rangers

Cuylle tracking for a 68 point season without much PP time. I figure that number will regress slightly and he will be more of a 50-55 point guy this year, Those are still Tom Wilson/Brady Tkachuk numbers, and those guys get much more PP time. As he ages, Cuylle can be the player we always dreamed we'd have. A big physical top 6 scorer who can answer the heavyweights if needed. He will be a monster at 28.

i don't see him getting 50 points. 40-45 would be great.

20+ / 20+ will be awesome.

This is the type of abrasive player we could use more of.

It also appears tjat Kakko will be back in the 40+ point stratosphere.

Hope Chytil can get back and stay healthy.

Tjat line is the difference on this team as it creates terrible match up decisions for opposing coaches

Good at most things great at almost nothing still results in a good player.

Alex Killorn esque in that he can play with more talented players and fit in well or he can play with less talented players and actually make them more effective.

He’s the Swiss Army knife the Rangers thought they were getting with Lias.

You are correct. Lavi has no idea what to do with them.

Cuylle is the tits. He's exactly what I want out of this type of player.

He's physical, but he's not just running into everything like an idiot. He's aggressive in all three zones, but again, not just running around. He has a purpose. He pressures the puck, helps us get it back, and he doesn't go "what the f*** is this thing?" when he gets it like a lot of the "grit" types.

Quite the opposite, actually. He's extremely quick with the puck and has facilitated our transition considerably. His one weakness was passing accuracy and he clearly worked on it. He's not a burner, but he plays fast.

Imagine a player who does everything right and gets better in the offseason. I feel like I'm watching a different franchise.

He's everything we needed.
