Family friends with Jared Wright (22' LA 6th round pick) who is skating with Rieger Lorenz on Denver. Their line had 9 points (Rieger had 1g,1a) with 5-on-5 shot attempts ending 19-2 in their exhibition game vs UNLV. Have been told Jared and Rieger were both moved up to the 2nd line this week after starting out on 3rd line, and Rieger is on the 2nd power play.

Rieger was a lot bigger and faster than I was expecting and the kid really likes to shoot the puck. I thought he did a great job at finding the soft spots in the offensive zone, and played a responsible defensive game. He left a very good first impression on me. Will be watching most DU games this year so I'll give some updates on how I think he's playing!

Everytime I do my rankings (even now, I still can't stop redoing the list), I keep having Lorenz in around the late 30s. So I was super excited to see us pick him up at #56. Had him ranked over Haight.

Just from video, he's always been a guy who struck me as a hard working skater with good size and solid offensive tools with the stats to back him up. Straightforward type of player but does everything at an above-average level. I guess his offensive stats not showing up in international tourneys raises a few questions of the translation of Junior A stats to the college level. So excited to see his progress this year!

Looks like all our WHL prospects put up points yesterday. Pillar: 3A, Lambos: 1a, Masters: 1a, Bankier:1g.

Why I dreamt of him I don't know, but I had a horrible dream last night in which Pillar took a shoulder to the head and had to be stretchered off the ice. I'm very glad he put up 3 assists instead.

i know its early in the process but things are looking up with judd as the captain of the ship i guess that makes billy the admiral. my goal for the team is in 3 years when were out of cap hell we are legit cup contenders. not saying we can't go on a lucky deep run sooner than that.

Masters is the one prospect that I feel the group on this site consistently gets wrong and you wouldn’t if you watched him often enough. He’s going to get a hell of a run and accolades with that team he’s on this year I think though.

I had to look up who that even was. He didn't even get a vote on this site's Prospect Ranking #20.

He's purported to be an offensive defenseman, yet has a career high of 14 points in the WHL. I hope I'm not coming off harsh here, but he hasn't really gotten results yet, so I'm not surprised most people don't have him on their radar.

Iowa loses their home opener 4-3(SO). Wallstedt in net, 3GA on 25 shots.

4 points in first 4 games=PPG

Yes, good, I did say yet. What I was saying is that he hasn't previously given results for people to get excited about, and unless you get excited by low scoring offensive defensemen, it's objectively true. He needs to have a good offensive season, and so far he is.

I'm not going to get excited yet, though. It's just 4 games. Guskov had 4 points in his first 5 games last year in the KHL. And then another 4 in his next 27 games. I'd prefer to look at Masters's season as a whole, and if it continues to be a great season for him, then I'm sure he'll end up on the collective radar of this forum, deservedly.

Ohgren scored today. He’s part of a really fun kid line for Djurgardens. All three of the 1st rounders are on the line.

Yurov has been playing the middle in his limited KHL ice time. I think Iowa is coming as soon as this season for him. He hasn’t signed an extension yet and isn’t with one of the KHL teams that has a reputation for forcing players to stay back.

Not the same thing. If he's there via loan, we can bring him back.
He already played in Iowa, so he has a signed contract with us. He, the Wild, and the KHL team must've come to an understanding that he would be be better off playing in Russia rather than Des Moines. Makes sense...he's a long play, to me.

The Milne signing makes more sense now.

Marat with a GWG today. 9 points in 20 games is pretty good considering he’s 20 and been in different role. Every time I’ve watched him he’s stood out too.

Lambos with a 4 point game last night - had really nice goal and three assists. It was against Bankier and Masters.
