Kessel deserved the Conn Smyth last year. He deserved it over Sid. Both had fantastic playoff runs but Kessel carried that team for a solid stretch of the playoffs.
thats not a fair statement. they don't win without Crosby, Malkin, or Murray either. can only award one conn smythe.

Oh okay. Toronto Sports Network said so. And Leafs fans don't care about Matthews ranking that's why there's like 6 triggered leafs fans here trying to throw personal insults and illogical arguments to try to convince people this thread is without merit.
I think you have more posts in this thread than all 6 of us triggered Leafs fans combined.

Except I haven't moved any goal posts. My point is simple, all of Matthews production indicates a player ranked around 20th in the league and not top 5. That's what this thread is about is it not? Pretty simple really. Maybe reread posts 40-61 and you can understand.

This thread is about the same people whining about Matthews and trying to pick fights with Leaf fans. Hockey analysts seem to think more highly of him than people who post on hockey forums. I'll go with their opinion and not the guy who spends his morning posting what like 80 different responses about why he thinks Matthews isn't top ten in one morning.

It's funny because he talked about McDavid being chosen as the best guy by those same guys who placed Matthews as the top 10 guy.:popcorn:

Funny thing is all my posts are just replies to triggered leafs fans that can't handle an objective stat based argument as to why I personally beleive Matthews doesn't belong in the top 10. My posts don't exist without your replies and your continued participation in a thread that apparently you guys don't care about (but deep down actually do because why else would you be in here trying to convince Oilers fans Matthews is something he's not). But this discussion is not about Matthews or hockey anymore, since you guys needed to resort to personal insults to try to stop me from expressing a hockey opinion LOL. Anyways I'm out, be back later if your lucky.

Nobody cares what you think. Your opinion like most people here is entirely irrelevant. No one is trying to convince you of anything because it's pointless. Hockey analysts put him top ten, I'll take their opinion over yours.

Commence the circle jerk of misreading all my arguments and warping them to fit your narrative. And finally winning the argument now that I'm gone and can't reply. Continue to tell eachother you never cared about a word I said in spite of having to reply to everything I said and lie about stats to try to make an argument stick lol.

K now I'm done. Post 79 completed.

They don't care about the stats. Matthews numbers were not sustainable. He's no Josh Bailey or Brock Boeser.
Dude, that’s not what they were saying. They were saying that a certain production in a 16 game stretch isn’t an automatic guarantee of keeping up said production for an entire season.
It could be lower, the same or higher. Bottom line one can’t say he had 19 points in 16 games, if he had no injury, he would have x points and therefore be in y position in the scoring race. It’s preposterous.

It’s not a difficult concept to know that players, ALL players (regardless of position, history, etc etc) have ebbs and flows. It’s because they’re human, not machines.

So rude and pointless. You always demean people this way in all threads, I noticed that.
Anyone’s opinion matters. Shame on you.

I agree. He has played through injuries and has slumped since coming back multiple times and is sitting at PPG still. Is it really that preposterous to think he wouldn't be 5-6 points over PPG? It's not like he was on pace for 70 points in 42 games. He would be on pace for 50 in 42. Anyway, I agree with your general argument. My point was he would be sitting at around ppg. 42 +/- 2 points.

This whole thread was derailed by a couple of stupid posts. The OP post itself is kind of silly because Leafs fans aren't the ones out here clamouring about Matthews being top 10 or top 5. We frankly don't care, it's the media that had him as the top 10 guy in the league (both TSN and NHL.com). Another thing is related to McDavid. Some of us hold the opinion that McDavid and Matthews are very close as overall players. None of us claim it as a matter of fact but rather opinion, I don't know why people get so worked up about it. That poster up there spent 70+ posts arguing Matthews and McDavid for basically no reason. I don't think Leafs fans care about McDavid vs Matthews debates. Our team is struggling to find its footing in the playoff race right now and we have bigger things to worry about. We can hold the d*** measuring contests in the offseason.

No they really don't. Everyone is entitled to voice an opinion but most people's don't matter, especially when people are saying their opinion is more valid then professional analysts. They just aren't. That doesn't mean you can't disagree but it's arrogant to assume that people should listen to you over them.

hfboards calling someone "triggered" after going ballistic for 6 hours.

oy vey x 1000?

There are rules. Those are valid for everyone. Until one breaks the rules, there’s no problem with what he does.
So he, you, me or everyone else can post as much as he/she/they wants/want, without the need to be told “you posted X times” and “your opinion doesn’t matter” and “do not come back” by ANYONE. Those are rude and pointless statements.

He's not wrong though. This is a msg board. People who get paid for their opinions are obviously more valued. The other poster didn't really take a hint to stop either. He was going on and on about what ever point he was proving. I think he was misinterpreting media pumping Matthews tires for general Leafs fan opinion. You can go over to the Leafs board and ask them if they are really concerned with McDavid or Matthews being a top 5/10/25/50 player. You'd be hard pressed to find many fans who care.

On the main boards, you can't start taking shots at a fanbases favourite player and not expect retaliation. It's not the Leafs fans starting these threads. They just get baited into responding because of their loyalty. It's stupid but it happens quite frequently.
