Why are the Devils 21-4-1? insane easy schedule, makes perfect sense.

The sooner you realize the playoffs are a goaltending crapshoot, the sooner you will recover from the beating you are taking in this thread.

Not taking any beating. Bunch of stat guys who think xGF means anything because their team is on a hot streak.

Do you think you're the only person who is able to watch Pens playoffs games?

So you've regularly been watching the Penguins over the past five years in the playoffs? Neat!

I'm sure you understand why we dealt Matheson and Marino then!

Marino’s real GF and xGF are within like a half point of each other as a Penguin, so I’m not understanding the gotcha against advanced stats. His advanced stats are not even impressive this season, but I know what I’m watching and I like it a lot.

Yes, actually I have. I understood Matheson but not Marino.

Being on a 13 game win streak likely helps hide any player's flaws.
To some extent. It’s also a decent sample size to watch a guy who has a significant flaw such as you’ve described. Maybe the issue is just my reading of your description. My interpretation was that he consistently struggles with low d zone coverage and along thr boards as opposed to just struggling with that in his worst moments. No question the system plays to his strengths.

No need to be so condescending. I thought Marino was great as a rookie, but still good afterwards

I'm not being condescending. Since you moonlight as a Penguins fan go watch our regular seasons and focus on him. And you’ll understand why he was in trade rumors for a year at his cap hit for OUR team.

Yes. He got worked below the net. The NHL isn’t anywhere close to playing the game how it’ll be played in April. Youre not going to see the flaws in his game until the games start ramping up.

I have watched their regular season games, because I enjoy watching Crosby. He never stuck out as a problem for me.

Neat. We over on HFPens all saw him as a problem and multiple media guys discussed moving him. JFresh is the only Penguins fan who I saw furious about the return. And I honestly don't really care for his model at all.

As we all predicted the trade is a win / win. Most media thought it would be. Not sure why we are getting into these fights. Marino didn't work out in PIT. He is in Jersey. Petry is working out better than Marino did.

We all good.

I'll tell ya'll one thing about Marino, he is probably the happiest player in the league today! Imagine getting traded away from a team thats rottting away slowly before our eyes and landing on a superfast talented young team. The guy is smiling ear to ear and his excellent play shows it!!

If only we had kept the d core that lost three straight 1st rounds! How will I ever survive!
Can't lose in the first round if you don't make the playoffs.

I just looked at the Devils prospects, Jesus Christ, they have like 5-8 blue chippers still to come! I am officially becoming a Devils fan. This team could become a true juggernaut!!
I wouldn’t say 5-8 blue chip but ya Luke , Nemec , Holtz, pretty amazing prospects to still have coming up. There is always a spot for more Devils fans ! Come , join the good-guys !

You think the Penguins miss?
It's a toss up for them at this point.

I think Boston, Toronto, Tampa, Carolina and NJ are basically locks.

Pittsburgh will be in the mix with NYR, NYI, Florida and Detroit for the final 3 spots.

I think they'll be in the mix until the end, just not sure if they grab a spot.

You nailed it. Plus got lucky 13 times in a row. Couldnt habe anything to do with being an awesome team …
I've seen Buffalo start off hot then fade as the season goes on. I've seen the Flames win 10 in a row then fizzle out in the playoffs.

Didn't Columbus go on a crazy 16 game run once?
