Why are the Devils 21-4-1? insane easy schedule, makes perfect sense.

This team keeps finding ways to win. It's alittle concerning we aren't winning convincingly latley but the team still finds a way to get it done. Boston has been dominant all year but at the same time we're quietly breaking some records here and there. We see how valuable of a player Hughes is without him in the lineup , he's showing how important he is to our offense. We need to make a deadline trade and get another top 6 wing and this team could potentially do some damage in the playoffs.

Yeah but look at the Bruins schedule. They are the only team in the league that never plays against a team ranked higher than them. Every single game remaining in their schedule is against a team with less wins than them. This should be the league's biggest scandal!
Second biggest.

The biggest is you stealing my joke. :eek3:

Those extra point losses can be worth an extra point if people want, but we gotta start using them as losses in our winning% calculations.

if you get a win for winning in a shootout, you get a loss for losing in one.

otherwise, everyone’s winning % is higher than it should be, and we tell ourselves that going 14-14-7 is “500 hockey”

How do the Kings stay on top of their division with minus goal differential for most of the season?
The Pacific is one of if not the worst division the NHL has ever seen thats why. Not a single playoff team in that division if they are in the east.

I think the Devils should go after Meier they have the prospect depth and every deep run is going to help this core moving forward. You never know with injuries and what not if a team is going to have a chance to make a run.

Palat was the perfect offseason signing for the Devils. I said it then and I still believe it now. Hopefully Hughes can get and stay healthy as they arent going anywhere without him.

Yeah, I was going by the updated title. It does show the Devils have come back down to earth considerably over the past 25+ games.
Considerably? They had a dip.. playing well but not winning.. but if there record since the new year is "coming down to earth considerably" I'll take it... smh

For the first half of the season, they were the Jekyll & Hyde team - they would win 1 goal games and then get blown out when they lost. Mainly because the addition of more talented players (like Fiala) had them flopping from the defensive game they are built for into run and gun games. As the season has progressed and they have settled back into their system, they have been chipping away at the differential.

Exactly. This is part of what makes it hilarious. When the Devils had the December losing skid but were, most nights, still playing well, the haters all came out of the woodwork with “hah, the real Devils are here and they suck, look, losses. THEY ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE.”

Now, they’re actually playing mediocre and for the first time this season squeaking out wins they didn’t really deserve. This is when the haters should be coming out with ‘they suck and if they keep playing like that they won’t survive a playoff’. Which would be accurate. But they were so bad at identifying when they were losing games they deserved to win they’d look especially petty now talking about them winning games they deserved to lose.

Probably won’t actually stop them tho.

to be fair if those people actually paid that much attention to things this thread never would have existed to begin with

NJD will probably lose in 1st round but it's an acceptable first step for this team.

I think todays NHL is so tight that when you get a chance, you have to give your all. And by giving all, the players have to be ready to break themselves. I could see this team being mentally ready to accept that. I guess 1st round exit wouldn't be a huge disappointment, but if you are still on top of the Metro division at the end of the season, there does come some added expectations.
