My list

McAfee
Armstrong

I mean, If say you're a owner and your GM comes and says I'd like to listen to this x team offer for my services, wouldn't you want that gm to have freedom to go or u want to say no and keep a gm who just asked to basically leave lol
Yea, you do have a point there.

I do worry about Armstrong though. He's torn down his cup winning team and is now building around softies like Thomas and Kyrou

Jim also only has 1 year left. If Toronto is something he wants to pursue, the owner is in a tough spot. He can be a hard ass and say no u gotta play out ur year or he could let him go knowing he wants to go. 50/50

But Shanny just showed that he moved on from a GM who didnt want to be here anymore.

Yea but I read that Armstrong really wants a job here and also he did build a solid team in st Louis. Isn't a bad drafter either. But McAfee for me makes so much sense.

Keefe sucks how can you not have a great season withe that core. He had no accountability.
Every time we played a crazy team we lost.

Same with Willy and Matthew's.
How many time did these 3 go to the net .
MO and knies did.
My only comment is, Flames died, Leafs had good season...
Keefe may suck but Sutter should have been gone long ago.

Hopefully somebody young and mysterious who wears glasses and has never been an nhl GM before. Also he needs to like manga and wear really tight low rise jeans. I don’t want some old ugly looking Lee Trevino

I agree with the top two choices here. I hope they are being honest about winning and not just taking the path of least resistance.

If the former is their objective, Bergevin will definitely find the character and tenacity this team requires. He also isn't afraid to exchange big names for each other as the P.K for Weber deal showed. That took some serious courage as P.K was very popular with fans (not so much with teammates).

If they can get Matthews for 12 and under and Willy for 9 and under, I’d keep the two of them. Knies is looking like he will be what they need. It’s pathetic how the cowards on this team did nothing when he was jumped behind the play. That boiled my blood. I don’t care who you are, if you’re on the ice when that happens you HAVE to challenge Bennett there - even if he beats your ass. I’ve been a life long leafs fan but I hate the lack of urgency this team has. They don’t hate losing nearly enough to win.

There is nothing i have seen from matthews or nylander to think either would take those deals.

Unfortunately i think if we get the right gm, he may have no choice but to ship out the three amigos and out us into a retool/rebuild if they are looking for similar percentage of cap as their current deals

Bergevin? Serious?
Look at what he did to that Habs team lol
He lost almost every trade unlike what Habs fans think

This is exactly what I want, but it's what's not going to happen. I am ready to move on from all of the core 4, and one of them is basically unmovable so he'd be a rebuild placeholder. The only other one I'd consider keeping is Nylander and that would be money dependent.

People saying to be careful what you wish for...who cares? The two guys making the biggest money are either incapable or unwilling to go full playoff hockey mode, so I'd rather not keep making the same mistakes over and over again. The whole environment has already been poisoned in my opinion.

If any of you care at all about the regular season at this point, you're an infinitely better fan than I am. I have watched every game of much shittier Leafs teams than this one but I have found *this* group to be the most spectacularly unlikable Leafs organization (from FO on down to the players) I've ever seen and it's extraordinarily hard for me to root for these people without plugging my nose.

I think the Leafs need to go outside the organization, but I don't think they'll poach à GM from another NHL franchise.

@The Iceman -- I'm a big fan of Rick Dudley and Dale Tallon, but at 74 and 72 y.o. they're both too old for this job.

Thanks to Dubas not leveraging RFA and getting taken to the cleaners, our teams future is totally dependant on 3 players showing us mercy. Pathetic

Habs are an amazing team right now, I wonder how many Leaf fans were excited he left the Habs, lol
Is it wrong that I want to see what kind of trade Bergevin would make? I've always thought besides sergachev he's made some good deals.

No, but I don't think Bergevin is the right GM for the Leafs...maybe he'll trade Matthews to the Habs for a package.

Jim Nill is almost better than Doug Armstrong for me.

It's a pipe dream but if it happens, I'm all in.

Jill Nill is the brains behind Ken Holland in Detroit and his competitive Dallas team is a testament to that. The trade for Seguin, the 2017 master draft class. Only question is would you give the job to a 66 year old and what is your time horizon like for success? I think of Nill as more of a program builder, probably what we should have had in place starting years ago so we didn't end up in this dead end.

Kind of curious if there would ever be a level of failure in Detroit for the Red Wings to move on from Yzerman or if that's just a job for life.

Silly thought, but what about Pierre Dorion? If Dubas steals his job in Ottawa and things go sideways with this era, Dorion is a pretty good tear it down and build it up GM. He's got a scouting background...
