On the one hand, I don't see McDonagh leapfrogging Staal, Richards, or Girardi. On the other hand, this is AV's team now. Not Tort's. So I'll be interested to see how this plays out.

G sooner or later, but 3 A's for at least the rest of this season. Would be fun if we win the cup in this condition (Yes, I know it's not gonna happen, I'm just smiling over the thought. Go away eternal pessimists.).

Thanks for the hard work and dedication to the organization, Cally! You were a good captain. I'm sorry you parted the organization on these terms. Congratulations on the 6 year deal for that monumental amount of money you'll sign with Buffalo in July.

As for the captain, I hope we go 3 A's until the off-season. Let AV pick his guy and roll from there.

Girardi is a good choice. So is McD, so is Staal.

For now it is 3 A's. Next season I think it is Danny Girardi. I am surprised though that both Kevin Weeks and Marty Biron were so 100% sure a deal was going to get done. Two guys both in the know of the NYR.

It should be McDonagh, without a question IMO.

His future is solidified, Staals is not.

McDonagh is one of the best defensemen in the game and currently our best player, plays super hard, and leads by example on the ice. (not saying Staal doesn't play hard, but where will Staal be in a couple of years)

Not a big fan of giving someone the captaincy just so he sticks around.

It would never be McDonagh over Girardi or Staal

3 A's for the rest of the year (Staal, Girardi, and Richards). After this year, the C will be gauged on whether Staal is staying or going. The following is presuming that Richards is bought out.

If Staal Stays:

C - Staal
A - Girardi
A - St. Louis

If Staal Leaves:

C - Girardi
A - St. Louis
A - McDonagh

Girardi. Might not be announced this season, but he is out next Captain.

I would also like to say thanks to Cally. I always knew you would be a special player & Captain of the Rangers someday. I appreciated everything that you did, but at the end of the day the 100% effort did not translate in to the offense we needed & as we saw with Chris Drury intangibles only get you so far & being a similar type of play as Drury, & having a lengthily injury history you aren't worth the type of money that you think you are worth.

Good luck where every you wind up as a UFA.

I think Staal is first in line, but it will hinge on discussions between Sather and Staal this off season as to whether he really wants to leave for Carolina like everyone other than Rangers fans claim.

I never thought he wanted to go to the Canes. I think the Canes want him bad, & like anything else it's going to come down to money.

Call me crazy but I think Zucc warrants an A for his play and attitude this season, at least more than Richards and Nash.

Id like it to be McDonagh, i think hes the best in the press out of all of them (except Lundqvist) and hes also the best player. He's a leader and tough nut to crack. My vote is for him. IT shouldnt be anyone the rest of the season out of respect for Callahan.
