Honestly this a very good move - I think DW knows his guy already and clears the roster before he hires the coach so there aren’t any disagreements before camp on who to play.
I thought it sounded like an Evason response.Blue Jackets Sunday Gathering: After coaching flops, Jackets want 'accountability and structure'
Also, what if Don Waddell can't find a trade partner for Patrik Laine this summer?www.nytimes.com
It seems pretty likely that the coach Porty talked to is Gallant.
While I do like Gallant (he was my pick at the start of the process last year) I don't think he brings enough structure defensively to do the job. Its not just about discipline, its also about doing the right things on both ends of the puck.
I didn’t read into that but wishful thinking for those wanting Evanson.I thought it sounded like an Evason response.
He has to know something on someone. We used to clown on Porty for being bad, but that was most of the time in good fun, making fun of our beat reporter. Hedger genuinely sucks.Hedger still pushing for Quenneville to coach the Jackets. Says optics after the Babcock fiasco is what would hold the Jackets back.
What a f***ing clown. How can the Dispatch continue to employ a guy like him?
I don’t care for Hedger and no longer regularly read his stuff. But I happen to believe he’s correct on Q. After all, they sadly did give Babcock a second chance. (Yes, I realize it’s a different management group).Hedger still pushing for Quenneville to coach the Jackets. Says optics after the Babcock fiasco is what would hold the Jackets back.

I wouldn't even put what Babcock did in same category as Q. I'm not defending what Babcock did, but what Q did is reprehensible.I don’t care for Hedger and no longer regularly read his stuff. Can’t stand Hedger but isn’t he saying the opposite?Hedger still pushing for Quenneville to coach the Jackets. Says optics after the Babcock fiasco is what would hold the Jackets back.
* this is nothing but pure speculation*
But I don't think there's any chance he's the guy
My guess: McLellan, Evason, Nelson
As major mentioned, 0 chance its Nelson. I was gonna say maybe Woodcroft, but I don't think he's technically experienced enough that I would feel safe hiring him as a "veteran" coach.

I have a feeling Fantilli is what he wanted PLD to be. I feel like they would be an instant match...I will trade a first round pick to the Philadelphia to get Torts back.
Move forward, not backward. And give up a (probably high) first? No thanks.I will trade a first round pick to the Philadelphia to get Torts back.
You're saying what I would normally say. Just a moment of nostalgic weakness.Move forward, not backward. And give up a (probably high) first? No thanks.
