If it takes another week or so to hire the coach then that's probably fine.

But overall it feels like Waddell has been late to everything since he's been hired. He was hired late so it was somewhat to be expected.

Who did they realistically miss out on by firing Vincent later? Berube was Toronto all the way. Lindy Ruff was Buffalo all the way. We shouldn’t touch Travis Green with a ten foot pole.

It’s beyond embarrassing they haven’t hired a coach. There’s been the Stanley cup, the draft, and free agency.

Supposedly they’ve been down to 2 or 3 guys for weeks. It’s pretty ridiculous.

Reeks of CBJ management wanting to get the first guy who blinks and takes their offer.

Been thinking more about Montreal hiring Vincent. Clearly they dont care if their AHL team plays similar. I cant really think of 2 opposite coaches than St.Louis and Vincent

The way they coached last year, sure.

But you're comparing a coach who is mid rebuild and letting the kids play vs a coach who was thrust into a situation where they were supposed to crack the whip and get an undisciplined bunch of kids to start winning now.

Cant say I buy this. Its one thing to be stern and have a level of expectation. Its another to have a shitty system and that be all you have and try to make players adapt to it when they obviously dont have that ability. We were in the same part of the rebuild whether Jarmo/ownership/Vincent/fanbase wanted to admit it

No real updates here except this

  • League sources told The Athletic that former Edmonton Oilers coach Jay Woodcroft came to Columbus last Tuesday and former Minnesota Wildcoach Dean Evason followed on Wednesday or Thursday as the search for the Blue Jackets’ next coach continues. With training camp two months away, time is ticking for a coach to move with his family to Columbus, to hire assistant coaches and move them in, to meet with players and to establish a playing system that can be taught to the coaches in advance of camp. Waddell said he didn’t want to get to Aug. 1 without a coach, so this week seems like a safe target.
