Who do you trade this offseason?

Who do you not re-sign?

Who do you fire?
---

Trade: Matthews or Marner, Brodie

Let walk: Kerfoot, Bunting, and Holl

Fire: Dubas and Keefe

** I did not include Tavares in the poll because he has an NMC and considering his salary I think it's very unlikely he could be moved.
Shanahan needs to go as well!

Matthews, Marner, Tavares.

33 million to explore some brand new avenues.
We’re stuck with Tavares, would not mind trading Marner and Matthews.

Keefe should be gone - that's 5 playoff series with 4 losses, and the only series win we had included large stretches of very poor play by us and repeated failures to show up at the start of games with anything resembling quality effort (ie we were actually pretty lucky to get some of those TB wins).

Beyond that, I think one of Matthews/Marner needs to go. They'd need the biggest trade return, clear the most salary, and are the two core guys whose playoff play is consistently below their regular season play (well Tavares too, but I don't think we can move him). Moving one of them would also simply provide the benefit of shaking up the core/locker room, and their trade value is high enough to bring back high quality pieces to fill specific needs (eg youngish physical top 2-3 dman).

Hard to say which one though given the NMC status. Both of them have NMC kicking in July 1st. If we trade Marner, is Matthews willing to re-sign here? If we trade Matthews, we at least have another year before we'd have to re-sign Marner, though him having the NMC hurts us if he decides he wants to leave. Trade both? Ideally we wouldn't, because as much as they've struggled in the playoffs, they're still 2 of the top 5 forwards in franchise history, and I think you'd need to hope that with a revamped core, the one that stays could perform better in the playoffs.

Trade both away, since Nylander is the best out of the three.

The new gm needs to have a conversation with JT about moving on.
Retain as much as you can under the CBA

Unless Mathews or Marner want out I don't think anything changes with the core.

One thing I have to remind myself not to do is watch any of the players press conferences especially Marners. He is so delusional and petulant. He blames everything but himself.
Makes me despise him even more

Tavares isn’t going anywhere and unles we move on from at least one of Matthews or Marner we will just get the same crap playoffs as the last 7 years

Nylander or Marner to Detroit. If Leafs management is smart they trade Marner and keep Nylander, but are they smart? Marner clearly can't handle the media hell, dude is shaking like a leaf(no pun intended). In Detroit he would only have to survive Helena St. James and Art Regner, asking for his favourite colour and Marner would be able to stay close to home. Nylander would be a great fit too, for Swede's it's like going to home.

Detroit right now is too good for being a bottom-5 team and not good enough for playoff spot hunt and this draft lottery thing isn't working in our favor. Top tier players has to be acquired via trade then.

Untouchables are:
Larkin
Raymond
Rasmussen
Kasper
Mazur
Söderblom
Lombardi
Seider
Edvinsson
Walman
Wallinder
Cossa
DET #9 2023
DET #17 2023

Package offers for Nylander or Marner:
DET 1st 2024
BOS 1st 2024 (top-10 protected)
Berggren

DET 1st 2024
BOS 1st 2024 (top-10 protected)
Albert Johansson
Shai Buium

DET 1st 2024
BOS 1st 2024 (top-10 protected)
Dimitri Buchelnikov
Albert Johansson/Shai Buium

Thoughs?

Marner or Nylander to another team in the division like Detroit starts with a couple of pieces from the untouchables list and then some of the other stuff. That would be the framework. If that seems unreasonable, don’t ask.

If we were going to do it the last offer is probably the most enticing. Would probably get it done. I am just not sure about trading Marner in division lol seems like a disaster waiting to happen.

Not unreasonable but it's doesn't work for the Wings. Those are needed for depth and ELC kids for salary cap control. Draft picks and B prospects is all we have.

Well, the Leafs will likely want to be different. Not to take steps back and be worse. This is a perfect time to want to vulture. But from my perspective it won’t work unless we get franchise changing, positive value.

Entire D core minus Rielly and Schenn (and I wish could include Sandin).

They can't procrastinate on new GM, he has lots of work to do.

It's gonna be so much fun watching whoever we trade win multiple cups with their new team.

Sometimes that's what's best for both sides. It might not work out here for them, but they may have a real chance elsewhere. Sometimes players don't reach their true potential until they're moved out of an environment that they've been losing in.

I won't be upset if that's the case, Kessel couldn't win here, neither could Bozak, Kaberle, Kadri. Just how it works sometimes.

Everything should be on that table. I doubt they can move Tavares or Matthews though. I'm guessing neither one will accept a trade.

Do you guys get paid by f***ing Tavares?

Why is Tavares not in any option, he should be thrown away along with his shitty pajama before anyone else.
He has a NTC, plus who the hell would want him? We'd have to give up 18 1st round picks in order for someone to take that contract

"Get rid of" has a strong connotation of the players being discardable trash. I expect major roster changes at the top and I expect to be a playoff contender next Spring. These players have individual value that can be turned into other talent.

New GM, new coach

Get rid of Tavares
Try to bring back ROR give him the C, if not give it to Mo.

Trade Marner and Matthews for players who don't choke in the playoffs .

I voted everyone on the list, Rielly included. And that one stung. But it's time to let our boy spread his wings so he can go to a contender, not fair to him to let him squander the remaining years of his prime on a one round wonder
