I think they should have a tandem with Campbell and whoever, but the question is whether they can get rid of Freddie if they bring in someone else.

Chicago is willing to take on cap, it's just a 1 year deal left so no long term risk for them, of course we'd have to package futures with him.

Lehner, please. He's another head case but much less of a sulky p***y.

Lehner is a great goalie and I could see him fitting in, but if it doesn't work out we'd be stuck with an anchor for years and he's had personal issues that I'm not confident he's over yet. Very high risk, high reward if we trade for him.

If Andersen actually ends up causing the team to have to give up assets to trade for another goalie all I can say is he should consider retirement.

He is our starter, the players play for him, the coaches trust him, he has every opportunity to prove himself. Stop being a bitch and take initiative and resolve the problem. Price was playing ass and was around .895 before now rising up to a .907. Obviously still not great but he battled when everyone (media, his own fans, league-wide fans) was on his ass and drilling him. He has turned his stats around and should finish with decent performance for the year

Andersen needs to simply fix the problem, whatever it is that's stopping him from making saves he made routinely for 3 years needs to be fixed. If Campbell gets 3-4 starts in a row don't pout, and be discouraged. Get motivated and committed to fixing his technique and confidence issues.

If we have to trade anything of value for another goalie Andersen will forever be a failure. I've hated on this guy heavily at times, and have defended him this year, but he needs to stop being so bad.

A .897 if we gave 40 shots a night would be defendable, however when we give 25ish it's just plain ass. Get that up to a respectable .910 and then have a strong playoff and win a cup with the team. He needs to be motivated. Other guys on this team will get future chances, but this is his last shot. He wants to be remembered as a greater goalie than Cujo, Eddie, Felix, and pretty much any leafs goalie outside of Broda and Bouwer then he needs to lead this cup to the promised land and win a cup. He does that, and he can leave it won't matter who comes after, he will be the 3rd best goalie in franchise history.

He’s a pending free agent with a bleak future. Change happens.

This move was to happen in the summer it doesn't happen during the season for a contending team. A bleak future can all be revered with some confidence and 2 hot months. Holtby was done for the caps going into the 2018 plays before playing great and winning the cup. He does that here, he could come back, or if not he could find another 20+ million on his deal. He has a lot left to play for and if he has any semblance of competitiveness and intensity he will be doing whatever he can to prove everyone wrong

Thinking of a really inconsequential move here: If we're not confident with Woll and Scott, going after Copley might be the way to go? 13th amongst NHL goalies in last 3 years in high-danger save percentage amongst those with >1000 minutes in all situations. This is done on an 18-19 season where he played behind a Washington Capitals defense that looked like this:

So then why a negative GSAA? Most likely due to his under-performing against low-and-mid danger shots... of which low-danger shots have the highest rate of variance... ie., something that a goalie can fix with experience and randomness sorting itself out over time. He is currently sucking but could be an upgrade on D'Agostini. (fwiw similar things can be said about Garrett Sparks dudududuu)

We have enough evidence to go on that if there's a high pressure, big stage moment to stand tall for the team (or himself), Frederik Andersen isn't going to come through.

He turned a breakthrough, Presidents Trophy on the horizon victory lap of a regular season into a dog fight. He literally took a cruise control situation with a team finding a new defensive gear confidence level to a team that has lost 6/7. He doesn't have the mental makeup to do it.

Like others have mentioned
Gibson would cost a 1st, and a top prospect at least.
Expensive

Wouldn't count on that. His contract and recently play severely limits the suitors. A 6.4 mill goalie who has posted a .894 this year and a .904 last year is not getting a 1st and a top prospect regardless of how bad the team is in front of him. The thing is, I think that is more of an offseason move than a right now move. Quarantine and cap is a major issue.

What team has acquired a starting goalie before the deadline and gone on to do damage in the playoffs?
Literally Vegas last season with Lehner and even then, a WCF appearance is certainly more playoff damage than the Leafs can attest to since 2004.

Technically not a starting goalie but San Jose acquired Reimer at the TDL and he went 6-2-0 down the stretch and gave Jones a major break before the playoffs. Jones played 65 games for them that year and took them to the Cup Finals. While they could have rolled with Stalock and still made the playoffs, Reimer was a pretty big boost for what turned out to be a 3rd rounder.

If we paid that for Ullmark (or Raanta or Dubnyk) and got a similar ROI, even if he is technically only a backup, and we could keep Campbell fresh for the playoff stretch (or get a Merzlikins/Korpisalo output from them), then we have a team which can win the Cup.

Seems more like Chicago we would just flip the roles with the Lehner deal from last year. We trade Andersen to Chicago, get them to take on the retention for a kicker, and then Andersen is moved to a third team where we regain some assets.

Chicago would have no interest in keeping Andersen.

Stars fan saying Dobby could hack it in TO. He's the opposite of a sulky head case. He's a team guy and the team in front of him rallies around him. He's had a couple bad games this year but I don't think he should have lost the job to Oettinger just yet. Could be a really good add for the Leafs at 3.33 AAV for 2 more years.

Is there a reason Grubauer isn't on this list??? He's younger than a lot of these guys and is having a career year

Yeah he's Colorados #1 guy and doing a damn good job, I was looking at options before this years trade deadline when I made the thread. Guys I think that would actually be available.

Also, in 2006, Roloson put the Oilers on his back and would have taken them to a cup win if he didn't get injured in game 1 of the SCF.
