Where are McDavid and Draisaitl when it matters?

A two game sample size. lmao
OH, MacKinnon has only played 2 playoff games? Didn't realize this was his rookie year. It's weird then that some guy with a similar experience and skill set had 25 pts in 15 games last season.

Weird that he is also 4th all time in ppg in the playoffs but I guess that makes sense since he's only played the 2 games, oh but he's also played 3 games.

Weird I could a swore I saw McDavid last season too but it makes sense for him as well since he was practically invisible

I mean, you do you booboo. Whatever helps you sleep at night.

Mcdavid had 9 points in 4 games last year.

and it was a bo5.

Don't think those 2 are the problem. They are heavily covered , it's the playoffs. I would be more worried about the rest of the team.
It has to be said it was 9 points against the team ranked 23rd in the standings. This year it's been two games. I think it's too soon to write McDavid and the Oilers off.

I wasn’t talking about points
No player can win a SC alone. Anyone who thinks that is crazy. All you can ask of a star player is to perform their best. Gretzky always did. McD has yet to prove that. He's currently not even a ppg player in the playoffs. Although he did do pretty well last season.

That's certainly a take.

His cup as a starter was on an all-star level Red Wings team that saw him face an average of something like 22 shots per game. Please tell me more about how that >Roy in the post season.

It also has to be said that the best North Division team is ranked 74th in the standings.

But imagine this: he took a pretty bad Buffalo team that had no business being in the play offs in the first place to a SC final and he didn't win it! What a terrible play-off performance. Couldn't happen to Roy...

...cuz he would never carry that team anywhere near the finals.
It’s hard to sense sarcasm but the 1993 Habs team has no business winning the cup.

Are you saying that Roy won more cups than Hasek? Because that's true.

If what you're saying is actually that Hasek was nothing special in the playoffs, that's obviously not true. He's 11th in all-time save percentage in the playoffs over 119 playoff games. The only somewhat contemporary goalie above him is Kölzig, who only played 45 games in the playoffs. Hasek's playoff save percentage of .925 is actually higher than his regular season save percentage of .922.

As I said. Saying that Hasek was nothing special in the playoffs is certainly a take.

lol jealous hockey fans coming out in trove now that McDavid not producing for 2 games

I personally don't count last year as the playoffs for Edmonton. Mcdavid lit them up, but Chicago didn't have a playoff worthy defensive system.....I'm not writing him off. As long as the Oilers are alive I still think he can rewrite the narrative.

Seems a bit shortsighted to make the post before the series even finishes it only takes a game or two and all of a sudden McDavid will have 6 points.

Extremely premature. McDavid can go from 0 to 100 pretty quickly. I don't doubt he's going to make a lot of people look very silly.

Right now, I see a player that is just a touch tentative and behind the play and people forget that Hellebuyck is the reigning Vezina trophy winner. He's got a god damn .986SV right now. He's the reason I didn't want any part of the Jets in the first round for the Leafs.

He needs one play to go for him, one crappy bounce and the floodgates will open it will go right to his legs which will turn into nitro boosts and skate right through the Jets.

It's so funny how it can be night and day when it comes to season vs playoffs. Sure, check super tight on McDrai and you can slow them down, but why not do it in the season too? The Jets were just not trying as hard?

You're acting like nobody ever shut down McDrai in the regular season either. Leafs did it for three consecutive games, 2 without their best player.

Have the F3 always above the puck, have good support everywhere on the ice and kill the transition game.

McDavid did have a lot of points in the Chicago series but anyone who watched that series could say he had an average series. His play in his own zone and 5 on 5 wasn’t that great either and many times he got out worked in the corners that led to goals.

Haha these guys are far from dead and buried

Jets are doing a good job defending in layers to suffocate these guys. Give them some time to pick it up a level and adjust to the adjustments the Jets made.

Agreed. Its almost as if teams have more time to focus and prepare for their opponents in the playoffs versus the regular season.

Back to back games is an interesting wrinkle in the series. Both teams will (probably) have to play their backups. This means McDavid and Drai will an opportunity to light up Brossoit. I forget the Oiler backup but I'm sure he's terrible.

There is simply no universe where Mcdavid gets zero points in 4 games. So one of these games must be an Oiler win. If the Jets can manage to take one of them that is more than enough. 3 - 1 is a hill not often climbed.
