Where are McDavid and Draisaitl when it matters?

This is just the thread for McDavid trolls

We all said he has to be superman and Drai to win this series,

Smith has held his part of the bargain

It is very frustrating to see BOTH pointless in two games

I don't care if you call me a whiner, but the referee standard is hilarious when you watch every other series as well.

But if people blame him and drai for losing this series overall (unless they do nothing the whole way) you are delusional

This is Past GM incompetence all coming to fruition

McDavid - 104sh points
Draisaitl - 84sh
RNH (who is a ghost) - 35 points

Need I say more ? lol

I have this thread bookmarked and snapshotted for this next week.

Choose any star and throw them on this team. They would never perform as well as 97 and 29 have. Not even in the same breathe

Didn't McDavid score 9 points in 4 games last year in the playoffs? He went 2 games without scoring. It happens.

Not to diminish anyone or their talent but today's superstars are lacking the 'it' factor for me. It's a tiktok/youtube generation and the sickest plays and cellys get plastered all over for everyone to gawk over for 10 seconds as they scroll through their social media feeds. Doesn't matter how they perform over a 60 min game let alone an 82 game season + playoffs... It's all about that last sick play they made and how they're G.O.A.T.

What has Winnipeg done to neuter them, maybe a better question.
The D corps is hitting a lot more
Has Helle played a big part?
Watch the neutral zone and corner obstruction, etc. No room

They have to adapt

It's 1990's clutch and grab Devils out there

refs don't give two f****

We need some of our useless support players to step up as well.
It is common logic

Did the game just change in 1 week?

No. The refs let teams make it much "tighter"

Connor didn't just sh** on WPG for the hell of it

The refs let teams in the playoffs get away with 100x more

If you stop the top guy or two, all you have left is to stop their depth (which we havent had)

very simple

in the prehistoric NHL catchphrase.."They gotta learn to handle it"

They've effectively neutered McDavids speed by playing tight checking D.

Edmonton fans trying to blame the refs have much bigger issues if they think they can only win because of chintzy hooks/grabs... You shouldn't need to be reliant on special teams to win games in the playoffs

Where are they support guys when it matters? I feel for them, cause if they are not beating they have nobody else. They need depth. Crosby and Malkin had role guys that chipped in.

Nice idea, but why isn't this happening to MacKinnon?

That has literally nothing to do with the players in game. And sports have always had highlights on TV.

Would happen if they’d play against Winnipeg and not St Louis. Colorado also has 4 proper lines.

I have mad respect for Winnipeg, shows that strategy and teamwork can overtake individual talent. This is the best part of teamwork in team sport.

Oiler fans do you think your coach will split McDavid and Draisaitl (sp?) next game ?

I think it would be a good thing to try just for sake of not having Jets best checking / D line against both players at the same time and try to get some balanced offence

Or has this already happen in the series ( plz dont rip me apart if it has, im not a oiler fan or jets fans so i watch highlight mostly)

Because the Jets are some defensive juggernaut as opposed to MacKinnon who has to play against O'Reilly and Parayko all game? Let's be honest here, you can't be the star player of a team and go pointless in 2 straight playoff games at home.

What results, what are you talking about? There has always been regular season highlights.

What I'm talking about is investing in players who are more than just regular season highlight generators. Best players in the game right now (by popular opinion) have done bupkis in the post season when it actually counts.

Learn to cut your losses and move on.

Yea, that argument makes no sense at all.

Who cares if the Avs have more depth? It doesn’t change the fact that the Blues always matched up O’Reily and Paryko (who are worlds better defensively then anyone on the Jets) against Mac, and he hasn’t had any trouble producing.

All of this nonsense about Mcdrai, watch them put up 4 points each in game 3 lol.

Yeah, lols. What if the Oils lose in 7 games to Winnipeg and McDavid's stat line is 0-0-4-0-1-5-0? That's 10 points in 7 games, which is nice on paper, but that's also 4 games where his void of scoring didn't do a depth shitty Oils team any favors.

I'm a little curious here about all these "lols what if they explode and put up 17 pointssss each next game!! lols" posts. That's still just one game. Playoffs is about consistently winning games to win the series, not about how many pointssss a singular player puts up in one or two games. McDavid and Draisaitl needs to show up on the scoresheet on a game-to-game basis for Edmonton to have any chance to win in the playoffs.

P. Bure for instance had a 16 game point streak in the 1994 playoffs over four different series, and his underdog team made it to game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals. Had he fluff scored a bunch load of points in the 1st round against the Flames, or something, and then dried up in half of the games in the 2nd round, his team would have gone nowhere.

I personally don't count last year as the playoffs for Edmonton. Mcdavid lit them up, but Chicago didn't have a playoff worthy defensive system.....I'm not writing him off. As long as the Oilers are alive I still think he can rewrite the narrative.
I agree 100%. Of course fans are free to include that series to make themselves feel better but in the end that's all it does. On the other hand things can change quickly because he has all the tools, the vision and the brain to dominate even in the playoffs. He just needs to get it imo. Things have to click. Might happen in the first shift of the next game, might never happen at all. It's up to him.

The two will score points in this inevitable series they will lose but the point remains......can they win a cup? Their cap hits arent exactly inviting better d or secondary scorers.

If you're the Jets you know if you give McDavid time and space he's likely to burn you. But if you obstruct him a bit you're unlikely to get called in the playoffs and if you are, you still prevented a high danger chance and get a do over. McDavid is use to playing with a ton of time and space. Until he's able to adjust to less time and space, he will be limited compared to his regular season totals.

Other stars would need to score in their own net to be worse than McDrai.

And yes, this thread is for trolls. Mocking Edmonton's top picks is one of the pleasure of being a hockey fan. I love it.
