Where are McDavid and Draisaitl when it matters?

Mcdavid has looked off the past 2 games. Getting stripped of the puck easy, bad passes, missing the net. He’s not getting any space and is making bad decisions when the Jets go to hit him. I don’t know if it’s nerves/pressure or if he’s playing injured but he doesn’t seem like himself.
He has no time and space I think that’s what it boils down to. During the regular season games are more open and less tight checking he has to figure out playoffs are a different beast and make some adjustments to be successful in playoff style hockey.

maybe things were a bit too easy for him in the regular season and he got used to playing a certain way. Every player has to adjust a bit for the playoffs maybe he's just taking longer because he had such an epic regular season.

Or maybe they let to much go in the playoffs and it's not as easy for his game to excel with guys sitting in his back

He seemed to figure it out in year 1.

Then they brought in Tippett and... well, the rest speaks for itself.

So what you saying is the playoffs should get watered and softened down because the best player in the world is struggling in said playoffs?

Stanley Cups are not won by depth. They’re won by star players who actually perform. The Oilers are perfectly capable of winning a Cup IF McDavid and Draisaitl perform.

Not one but, just saying the rule book is the rulebook, there isn't one for regular season and 1 for playoffs

I think it has to do more with how the Jets are defending him than what Tipper is doing
Tippett hasn't shown that he knows how to coach in the playoffs. All last year Chicago abused the points and Tippett refused to adjust for that. Now the Jets are doing their thing this year and the Oilers are just making the same mistakes over and over again. The tool loaded up his top line as if that was supposed to make things harder for Winnipeg when in reality the opposite happened.

Tippett is an absolute clown of a coach who has never won anything in his career and he never will. With him around the Oilers will be first round fodder until he gets fired.

McDavid signing long term in Edmonton makes a lot more sense now. He just wants to coast through the regular season padding his stats and has no interest in playing in the tough games that actually require him to try harder. Edmonton is a perfect spot for him.

It's so funny how it can be night and day when it comes to season vs playoffs. Sure, check super tight on McDrai and you can slow them down, but why not do it in the season too? The Jets were just not trying as hard?

So I'm supposed to believe that hockey is "Canada's sport" then watch the proclaimed best player in the world do absolutely nothing in 2 "playoff" games in front of zero fans? Canadian franchises have become and embarrassment and dead weight to this league.

Maybe because they're playing against a good Canadian team?

Despite what people will tell you this week, Maurice isn't a great coach. He may finally have adjusted but it's taken all season.

penalties called in the regular season should be called in the playoffs

penalties not called in the regular season should not be called in the playoffs

we just want consistency

You can't give him credit for his regular season if you are going to make excuses for him in the playoffs.

I’m an outsider watching I have no horse in this race but what I’ve seen in two games is Jets playing a hard defensive game on 97 and 29 and shutting them down. Tipper can only work with what he’s got and Oilers are just not a deep team. I agree Tipper is overrated coach I don’t think he’s even line matching when he has the last change what’s the point of home ice then? Anyway at some point the roster needs to be upgraded because Oilers can’t keep burning through coaches I lost count how many coaching changes the last 12 years. Oilers need to make some big changes to the roster this off season the McDrai window has 4 years left the time to win is now

I'm definitely not doing that. McDavid deserves full credit for what he did in the season. It's also worth criticizing him now. I'm not sure it's a crazy different standard for interference, etc. He was interfered with a ton in the season too. Most stars probably are and moreso for him because hes a puck transporter.
