When does Trotz pull the plug on Brunette?

You would think so, yeah. He has his eyes open in the box, so you'd think he sees it. If not, a visit to the eye doctor is required posthaste.

Another random thought is that he is working behind the scenes on this, but given the composition of the roster and the fact it is mid-season, he is having a terrible time finding who he wants to replace Bruno. Trotz does seem to be of a mindset that you push all your chips into the middle of the table with each bet, so he may be holding out for that proverbial "serial winner" and "guy I know".
It's almost getting to the same point as integrating some of the young players? I get that Karl Taylor has never played in the NHL or won a big trophy as a coach in another league, but... :dunno:

Teams are naming "interim" replacements. Give the guy the ball and see what happens, at least? He has earned that much. :dunno:

My original vote was that Bruno would "Survive The Season". I honestly didn't think we'd be stuck at #31-32 though. Maybe #20-25? Still would have been a fail, but not quite the same full faceplant effect.

Right now, the organization MUST fire the coach. When a consciously tanking team like Chicago fires their guy, come on. We're not "consciously tanking"... it has to be like 10X worse for us. We're NOT GOING TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS THIS SEASON... Trotz has to realize that, and there is no reason to delay on the player utilization or coaching fronts right now. Everything MUST switch over to a view for the longer term, or else he just looks dumber.
Yep. The thought behind my initial question above was Trotz looks like an idiot here any way you want to slice it. He screwed up this offseason and it blew up in his face.

Riding it out with Bruno looks dumb, like throwing money in the fire.

Firing Bruno and trying something else might be just as bad, but at least you tried something. Or it might be better, and then Trotz looks dumb for hemming and hawing about what to do.

He's painted himself into a corner.

I originally thought Bruno would survive but we are just terrible. 1/3 the way through the season and we are in the gutter of the NHL in points and goals/game.

10 points out of the playoffs and have played more games then any of the wild card teams. Gotta go something like 37-18-1 to have any chance of the playoffs. For reference our current record is: 7-14-6.

When/if Trotz boots Brunette, there is very high probability, if not certainty, that Todd Richards will be named interim HC. Been thinking about that for awhile and not sure how I feel about that.
I mean, from where we are sitting we have absolutely no way whatsoever to truly evaluate the coaches and their contributions and readiness. I have no clue what Richards is doing, if he's part of the problem or could be part of the solution. I have a much better feel for Taylor, since Milwaukee has been doing well and he never really has anybody on his staff that you'd be crediting above him for those results.

So sure, we'll never really know. I'm still going to pull for Taylor from my seat in the peanut gallery.

This may be his last game.

Nothing is better for firing up the rusty neurons than sitting by a🎄, drinking hot chocolate, and eating a fruitcake. When the Christmas music stops, the clear eyes of bliss and fully nourished GI tract can push that ol' brain out of neutral and back into a gear for that consequential decision.

Leave it all up to :santa: .

Disagree. You go 0-3 on the road trip, and you lose 8 straight. You could be done. You win the game, Trotz likely waffles.
Were you meaning last night's game or the one tomorrow? If you meant last night, that's what I was referring to. If it's tomorrow, I concur.

Yeah logistically it makes some sense to wait until after the road trip to fire him if we’re going to do it and especially if we’re not going to promote an assistant. I do think no matter how much Trotz likes Bruno that losing tomorrow would surely have to be his death knell.

Then it appears we are on the same page.

I went to the game against the 'Peg a couple of weeks ago hoping that would be his last game. Sure enough, we win 4-1 and I was disappointed.
We are on the road where our record is 2-8-4. We are without our "1C" and started the season without a "2C". All signs point towards a season turnaround starting tomorrow and Bruno winning Jack Adams

Let me correct this for you. We started the season without a 1C and 2C. Our 1C from last year is at best a 3C this year. The drop off has been monumental.

ROR was realistically a low level 1C last year and we should’ve been looking for a 1C so we could slot him in as a 2C.

Trotz has said we need a 1C and he’s tried to get one. Problem with that is either teams aren’t willing to deal them or we’re not willing to part with the pieces to make it happen.

Listening to Willie on the radio he is basically where most of this board was two years ago, don't burn it down, let's try and play good hockey while we build. This team is too far gone to save at this point.

I think we may have too many contracts we cant trade to actually burn it down. We arent playing good hockey anyways so we can move what contracts we can and honestly itd be hard to play worse then we are now. We can only fall back 1 more spot in the standings and we are already last in goals/game. Only thing that can really get worse is if we start giving up 4-5 goals a game.
