Watch Caufield go on a tear now that St. Louis will reveal to him all the secrets to be a successful midget in the league!

I know its cool to shit on Montreal fans and everything they cheer for such as prospect or the relative playoff success they got last year, but this season as been surreal in a bad way for the Habs and Caufield, and lol at the people writing the kid of after 30 games. He showed he belonged in the NHL last season and in the playoff, but like all of the team, he is having a rough year. He still has plenty of time to get back on track and he just became 21 year old recently.

Let's see what he can do for the second half of the season now.

This is what happens when you get a 5’6 one dimensional winger and try and make him play in the NHL before he’s ready

This. He's a smurf sized young guy and was put into bigger shoes than he could fill at this time. Montreal isn't exactly a good team.

He will bounce back. Lost season for the entire organization but Cole has too much talent.

If he plays like last game there won't be any problem. He was 2x as involved. He clearly still is chasing a goal and his shot has been off, but the involvement is what matters most for now.

Well if there’s somebody who could get the best out of a skilled 5 foot 7 player I’d imagine it would be St.Louis. So far so good.

Asterisk on 5 goals since one was called back on offside. Regardless 4 goals in 4 games with St. Louis vs. 1 goal in 31 games with Ducharme.

Is this a streaky player or is one short-man teaching another to survive in the NHL? Or was Ducharme that bad of a coach?

Caufield has been scrutinized repeatedly this year as he has apparently played poorly in relation to the hype behind his great high school and college performances. Though I do agree that he did slow down, I wanted to pull up some stats just to put into perspective that his production so far in his NHL career has actually exceeded where he was drafted.

Here's a look at the top 15 prospects from the draft by points per 82 (more than 20 games played in the NHL - forwards only)

1. Trevor Zegras: 55.5
2. Jack Hughes: 45.7
3. Alex Newhook: 37.3
4. Cole Caufield: 37.2
5. Dylan Cozens: 35.3
6. Kirby Dach: 34.7
7. Nils Hoglander: 33.9
8. Kaapo Kakko: 28.8
9. Philip Tomasino: 28.6
10. Arthur kaliyev: 27.3
11. Peyton Krebs: 26.4
12. Connor McMichael: 26.2
13. Aliaksei Protas: 22.3
14. Vasili Podkolzin: 21.4
15. Brett Leason: 14.4

I do see how the start to the season could have people questioning his point totals, however he was shooting 1% as a player touted for his goal scoring so it was already expected for the number to rise up. All in all he seems to be having an excellent first 82 games for a player drafted 15th overall in an otherwise average draft.

WHERE DEM HATERS NOW!!!

But seriously, 2 Caufield thread in 5 minutes? Can't imagine how much hype there would be if the guy was in the running for the Calder right now.
It's nice that he scored two tonight but this was more a thread to highlight the entirety of his career so far.
