Hope the kid does learn from st Louis would be great to see Montreal Toronto playoffs with fans.
I always have at least one Canadian player I really pull for and I love caufield

I'd say St.louis has at least something to do with it even if it's a very small portion. Ducharme was terrible, we saw it in Edmonton and Vancouver, young players flying high when given some trust and confidence.

Caufield has been scrutinized repeatedly this year as he has apparently played poorly in relation to the hype behind his great high school and college performances. Though I do agree that he did slow down, I wanted to pull up some stats just to put into perspective that his production so far in his NHL career has actually exceeded where he was drafted.

Here's a look at the top 15 prospects from the draft by points per 82 (more than 20 games played in the NHL - forwards only)

1. Trevor Zegras: 55.5
2. Jack Hughes: 45.7
3. Alex Newhook: 37.3
4. Cole Caufield: 37.2
5. Dylan Cozens: 35.3
6. Kirby Dach: 34.7
7. Nils Hoglander: 33.9
8. Kaapo Kakko: 28.8
9. Philip Tomasino: 28.6
10. Arthur kaliyev: 27.3
11. Peyton Krebs: 26.4
12. Connor McMichael: 26.2
13. Aliaksei Protas: 22.3
14. Vasili Podkolzin: 21.4
15. Brett Leason: 14.4

I do see how the start to the season could have people questioning his point totals, however he was shooting 1% as a player touted for his goal scoring so it was already expected for the number to rise up. All in all he seems to be having an excellent first 82 games for a player drafted 15th overall in an otherwise average draft.
If I were a betting man, I'd say it's likely that Boldy will have a higher PPG average by the time he hits game 20.

People don’t bag on Caulfield cause he has or hasn’t met draft expectations. They bag on him to piss off the Habs fans who call him the second coming of Ovechkin every time his stick hits rubber.

He was like a Goal a Game Player at Wisconsin which plays in a good conference and he had a few good games in the Playoffs, so I think everyone figured he can score, good to see him playing with a bit more confidence. Always helps when you see the puck go in off your stick and has a tendency to carry over.

Boldy's my personal favorite player from that draft, but this is besides the point as he has played such a small sample of games. List would have been too large if I was using every player above 10 games played.

yeah four goals since marty has returned

guess he needed the right man behind the bench.

4 in 4 with a 5th called back on a hairs-breadth type frame-by-frame offside call since the new coach. What's up with Cole Caufield even to my own surprise was the coaching. Cool to see some people getting their last desperate digs in though.

I think St. Louis told him if the Habs keep losing, he's not going to be the most hyped prospect in Montreal

It's actually 11 goals* in 4 games. 4 goals, 1 goal called back on offside and 6 of them hit the goalie on the way to the net.

In the NBA - that's called goaltending and deemed illegal. NHL refs suck! It's an anti-Habs conspiracy

This list is a bit unfair to guys like Dach, Kakko and Hoglander, who were playing in the big leagues two years before most of these other guys. Listing this years ppg is more fair and could show if being in the NHL too early hurt their development or not. Or just list their last 82 games ppg (if you can find it somehow).

To further add to this, Caufield's games-with-points PPG this season is 1.2 which is right up there with the best of the draft.
