It is whyvthe team is in last. That is one sorry ass core. Its shy Bergevin is gone , it's why no one cares the team is in last because they understand what a mess MB put the franchise in.

No one can really argue with that right now. But you weren't so vocal last June... it's just a normal cycle if you ask me. Yes Bergevin did very bad last summer, probably panicking, but he isn't a total incompetent like you seem to pretend. Lacks a little vision, but is a decent manager imo

Who are his linemates and what’s his ice time like? MTL just wouldn’t seem a great situation for development, currently, so just wondering what they should do to help the kid.

I wasnt so vocal ? You couldnt be more wrong. Did you notice what it says right under PaulD. If you were so inclined and went to the Canadiens board history. You would clearly see myself and many others have been bashing Marc Bergevin since 2016-17. Predicted he would leave the habs in the basement when Molson ended the bromance and cut him loose. I wast alone on that.
Just one example posted on more than occasion over the years - "My brothers are both Bruin fans fans. They would often refer to Marc Bergevin as "a Boston Bruins asset" Then laugh. I couldn't argue with them on that one. ha!
Carey Price kept Bergevins rosters out of the lottery many a season. But not all of them.
Price went out long term IR in a season twice. 2016 and 2022. Both times the team dropped to worst in the league.
I could go on and on........but i would just be repeating what Ive already posted for years.

You are right. Player development not a strong point in Montreal.
Try name of the last highly touted prospect that came to Montreal and flourished?

Paciorrety , Suzuki (developed mostly outside of the org). They still deserve some credit for giving suzuki ice time i suppose

Management was garbage, Bergie rode Gaineys assets his entire tenure and left us with none now that he's gone, plus tons of bad contracts. Cup final was nice but the entire franchise was managed poorly for 8 years

Better make this year's pick count for once!

Kinda funny that the habs have had more top 3 picks than the Leafs the past decade. And thats not even counting this year. After the Habs top 5 pick this year, they will have had the same amount of top 5 picks as the Leafs dating back to the Galchenyuk draft.

Every player on the Habs was playing out of their minds for that run, on the hottest streaks of their careers. Now that everyone around him has cooled off he's just an undersized, underdeveloped rookie that can't produce at this level.
 
I never understood the hype around him. He was the 15th overall pick. Not like some lotto pick.
