What's Treliving first deal going to be?

Philly rushed Hart to the show against their GM’s advice, they fired Hextall to ruin Hart. Guess the Leafs aren’t the only dysfunctional organization out there………

Get a established goalie, this dumpster diving is so passe, sure Vegas is running a no name goalie so it’s the new thing. Follow the leader rarely works, their goalie will no doubt fade into obscurity soon enough……….
I have always thought that way too BUT...

Acquiring BOB and Hill would have been considered dumpster diving last off season.
Kuemper won the Cup last year..
Seattle did well with Grubauer

Maybe insulating a goalie with a better D should be the priority.

But I am fine upgrading,
Leafs only playoff success date back to CuJo where the Leafs won series mostly because of him.

Watching PLD in the playoffs cured me of ever wanting him on our team. Anyone suggesting we add him better never complain about a lack of intensity from the core 4. He had his complete disinterest for team success on full display.
PLD and Josh Anderson only play big against teams like the leafs that have no response. No interest

If Sammy has that much value as some are saying let’s package him for someone like Hellybuck if available and run woll as the back up?

If wpg wants nhl players instead of picks.

Can't wait to see what minimum wage walking meatfisted duds Treliving can find off the scrap heap this year.

Wouldn't surprise me if Lucic and Clifford are on the roster. The price is right on those two. Exactly what this team needs.

Cement Hands & Cinder Blocks.

I blame Shanahan.

I'm sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings saying the things I do. ML$E, backed by their media empire, started this war. Breaking out their weapons of slander and propaganda to divide the fan base.

They made us mad first.

We ARE angry.

It's our turn now. The FANS turn. Thank you for giving us the tools to do it too. Cut off our internet if you don't like what we have to say.

Rogers and Bell have been giving their customers the corporate finger their entire lives.

We finally get to give it back.

You can blame Shanahan for this whole mess. He botched this whole rebuild. This is all his fault.

Cement Hands and Cinder Blocks on the ice.

And Brick Brain in charge.
Shanny should have been the first to go....

No maybes about it. The two aren't mutually exclusive.

Still need big game saves from our goaltending, but a strong defence goes a long way to minimizing the need for constant big game saves.

Leafs only have like 30 people signed for next year. So he will probably be making 20 signings and that doesn't include Extensions.

He will make a ton of moves but not many impactful ones.
You would think a new GM would want to put his name and stamp on the team in a major move.

Dubas signed Tavares as one of his first big moves to start his tenure.

If Leafs could land a new starting goalie like Carter Hart or Connor Hellebuyck that would qualify for me as putting his own stamp on the team.

Captain Dubious waited until July 1st to sign JT. Tre's got lots of time to get his ducks in order. Rumour is Helly wants out of Canada and Flyers want 2 1st for Hart. I'd kick tires on Demko and Saros but doubt we are willing to trade something teams would be interested in. Tre could look to Vladar or just stick with Sammy.

Chris Johnston thinks there’s no way Matthews signs long term, but still gets overpaid again. He didn’t live up to his second contract so why over pay him again.

????? He literally won the hart on a 14% AAV.

That’s silly

If we replaced Samsonov with Vladar, Treliving and whoever approved that move should be fired.

Not once, not twice, but three times Dubas could have filled that 1RHD position.

If Treliving wants to really put his stamp on the team he should do something Dubas failed to do three times in his short caterer here: fill that 1RHD position properly.

Even if it means trading Nylander or Marner.

Dubas promised Nylander not to trade him. Treliving is under no such obligation. Who does that anyway?

Who gives a guy a verbal promise he won't get traded and then actually keeps the promise?

The defense is still shaky with more guys on the wrong side of thirty than not, and an offensive defenseman that struggles in their own end as the team's top defender.

Rangers have a lot of good defensemen, and Jacob Trouba is a player I could see being moved.

If Treliving had any guts he would find a way to bring Trouba over to the Leafs.

Finally fill that #1RHD position properly.

Something Dubas willfully choose not to do three times in his short career.

If would be ironic if one of Treliving's first and biggest deals was to get Tavares to waive his NMC and move on from him, particularly because the general consensus is he isn't willing to go anywhere. If would open the door to re-signing the 3 Amigos which would be a fan pleaser for many.

How about a combination of both goalie and Tavares moves.. Leafs trade John Tavares ($11 mil) to the Montreal Canadiens for Carey Price ($10 mil). Now that would be a move nobody would see coming. :wg:

For those that don't know Shane Doan Leafs new assistant to the GM and Carey Price are cousins. Carey's dad and Shane's mom are first cousins.

So our new GM instead of collecting Soo alumni like the past regime, starts assembling Arizona/Phoenix connections and links?.

Shane Doan was skating with Auston Matthews when the Maple Leafs star was just 16, and those off-season skates have continued to this day. He coached Matthew Knies when the Leafs rookie was a kid. When he was in the latter stage of his playing career with Phoenix Coyotes, he formed a relationship with Brad Treliving, the team’s assistant general manager at the time. There will be no need for Shane Doan to fill out a name tag for his role in the Leafs’ front office.

Trouba won't play in Canada. That said, I like the thrust of your argument.

He waited until July 1 to sign him because that was the first day of free agency.

Correct. Dubas was given the keys to the candy store in May 2018 and made his big splash July 1st. Poster was wondering when Tre makes his big move. My point is that it takes time.

Leafs to trade Ricky Bobby (alias Nic Robertson) to Arizona for Josh Doan.

What's in it for Zona? Robbie's market value is virtually zero and Doan is a local boy.
