.... so who had hire a new Assistant GM as his first move in the pool?

Btw, Coyotes fans seem pretty disappointed with this news.

Why do you see Hart as an upgrade on Samsonov?
As a Kelowna Rocket season ticket holder I follow the WHL very closely and as such got to see Carter Hart in person and for 4 seasons he was among the best goalies in the WHL and even named CHL goalie of the year . The potential is there on a good team to become a Star as he is only 24 and still a work in progress. IMO

no one said being a Leaf fan was easy, or enjoyable for that matter.......
I will definitely say that. It is easy and enjoyable. It is for me anyways.

Why? He left the Coyotes last September.

How do you go 2-4 with those playoff numbers?

The Arizona Coyotes got a 2022 first-round pick, conditional third, and Connor Timmins for then 31-year-old Darcy Kuemper. Would think the Flyers would want more than that?

Option #1
Leafs 1st (from Boston) + RFA rights Samsonov and Connor Timmins for Carter Hart.
Option #2
Leafs 1st (from Boston) + Matt Murray (50% retained) + Timothy Liljegren for Carter Hart.

Samsonov is better than Hart. I've officially put him into the bust category. Need to stop thinking of him from his Junior career.

Caps kicked Sammy to the curb. Let's see whether the Flyers get less for Hart than what the Caps got for Sammy.

For the next three years, we have a total of maybe 3 picks in the first three rounds. So I would say our window with this core (if we keep them) is the next three years. After that, it could be dark times for awhile.
The Leafs have 4 picks in the first three rounds over the next 3 drafts. Here's how all the playoff teams stack up in that regard:

Boston - 3
Carolina -10
New Jersey - 6
Toronto - 4
NY Rangers - 5
Tampa Bay - 3
NY Islanders - 5
Florida - 4

Vegas - 8
Edmonton - 5
Colorado - 4
Dallas - 6
Los Angeles - 6
Minnesota - 8
Seattle - 12
Winnipeg - 7

We traded Dubas for a Primanti Brothers sandwich and we are better already. Now if we could only get rid of Geppetto, and Kyle's BFF we'd be golden.

But then you have Tavares. Ooof.

Don't you think we have to see at least a team on the ice before claim anything?

While we expect improvement I need to see the results.

Of course there is a slim possibility the players play better most likely Treliving makes a big save, or scores an important goal.

Can't wait to see what minimum wage walking meatfisted duds Treliving can find off the scrap heap this year.

Wouldn't surprise me if Lucic and Clifford are on the roster. The price is right on those two. Exactly what this team needs.

Cement Hands & Cinder Blocks.

I blame Shanahan.

I'm sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings saying the things I do. ML$E, backed by their media empire, started this war. Breaking out their weapons of slander and propaganda to divide the fan base.

They made us mad first.

We ARE angry.

It's our turn now. The FANS turn. Thank you for giving us the tools to do it too. Cut off our internet if you don't like what we have to say.

Rogers and Bell have been giving their customers the corporate finger their entire lives.

We finally get to give it back.

You can blame Shanahan for this whole mess. He botched this whole rebuild. This is all his fault.

Cement Hands and Cinder Blocks on the ice.

And Brick Brain in charge.

I wouldn't mind Lucic on a minimum contract. Vancouver will probably get him though.

Honestly whoever is complaining about this is ridiculous. Did anyone complain when Dubas named Spezza his “special assistant GM”? No… Meanwhile Doan actually has some managerial experience with Arizona and team Canada.

Not to mention, Doan played the game the right way. He was a true leader and played hard on both ends of the ice. And on top of all that he happens to be a huge role model for two of our star players in Matthews and Knies.

I’ll never forget the interview with Knies where he shared the best advice anyone has given him, which happens to be from Doan and was “you don’t need to be the most skilled out on the ice, but be the hardest worker out there”.

Overall sounds like a pretty good hire to me. Welcome to Toronto Shane Doan!

Philly rushed Hart to the show against their GM’s advice, they fired Hextall to ruin Hart. Guess the Leafs aren’t the only dysfunctional organization out there………

Get a established goalie, this dumpster diving is so passe, sure Vegas is running a no name goalie so it’s the new thing. Follow the leader rarely works, their goalie will no doubt fade into obscurity soon enough……….

Not sure if you are calling Sammy a dumpster dive, but he's the real deal, goalies usually don't develop till their later in their career, he will be among the elite goalies over the next 5 years. I forget where I read it but they were ranking young upcoming goalies on quantifiable metrics and Sammy was number two behind Jake Oettinger. Woll and Sammy would be a great tandem over the next 5 years.

MJ just doesn't understand what Hayes is trying to say.

Only in Toronto is number of years a part of the contract negotiation. Everywhere else it is 8 years and we'll negotiate the cap hit.
MJ also doesn’t understand that Dubas built a crap team around AM, mainly due to outrageous salaries.

The Toronto media over values Matthews ability. If he wants 3 yrs, it would be more than fair to extend his current contract with M-NTC in the final year.
