Should have been Murray to Philly but Treliving asleep at the wheel already.

Petersen has more term than Murray.

Orlov? really? that's who you'd slot n there as an improvement lol my god, this fan base.

Hey, if it was my choice: Pietrangelo would have been a Leaf, Marner would be wearing a different uniform, Tavares would be forced to waive his NMC or have the C stripped, and Rielly would be the captain.

My assumption is that Treliving probably goes after a big D based on his comments. Orlov probably fits what he’s looking for.

Tough to compare that which actually happened with anything that might have been since the trade had more moving parts to it beyond just Petersen.

pretty sure emulating the Vegas D core plus retaining the core 4 forwards would put them over the cap.
I'm not in the retain the core 4 camp. :wg:

I think re-siging Matthews all but sends Nylander packing for cap reasons and he is parlayed into a top pairing Dman or #1G.

Why would anyone want Petersen?
Philadelphia also acquired 1st + 2 X 2nd round picks in the deal + more including a young Swedish Dman Grans (taken 2nd round 2020)

Peterson is simply a cap space move between teams to make the deal work.

I doubt anyone wants Murray
Less term and a slightly lesser AAV in comparison to Petersen (with Petersen also having cleared waivers previously). Any trade might require a multitude of moving parts like today's transaction did, but...

If @Notsince67 is correct with the rumour Leafs offering Nylander for Seider, things might be about to get exciting as soon as Eichel hoists the cup.
I doubt they would trade Seider for Matthews never mind Willy. The guy will be one of the best in the game in a few short years IMO.

Does 34 understand what this fanbase will be like if he doesnt live up to his ask?
I really don't think he gives a shit TBH. He seems annoyed when they interview him most of the time and I can't really blame him because of the stupid softball questions they ask.

Treliving should first and foremost be looking at ridding this organization of all the nepotistic hires.

No more shit advice from the same shitheads that put the team into this mess. No more bloated front office corporate cronyism. No more pushing a political progressive agenda on the fans instead of building a contending hockey team.

If the plan is to keep them all together then why was Treliving even hired?

They could have put a bag of weed in charge. It would have cost less. The results would be the same.

Lazy, lazy, lazy.

Everyone is too comfortable as it is. No one is worried about their jobs. No changes will results in exactly that: no change.

If they're going to keep the same team that failed so many times already together they may as well just raise the white flag now.

It feels like Carter Hart to me.

Treliving starting his Leaf career by building from the net out, with Leafs starting goalie would be a place I would start as well.

If Murray refuses to be LTIR'ed, they should just buy him out. Take the cap loss and move on.

If the team has medical evidence that the player should be LTIR'd, I don't think a player has any say in the matter. Judging from how pushing off the wrong way in practice put him on the IR last season, it's pretty obvious that he was injured from the get go but the GM was an advocate for the player and was determined to have Murray succeed. He may be able to file some sort of grievance over it but I'm not sure what that would accomplish, you can't make a team use a player. He could ask for his contract to be terminated (not happening, he's being paid $8M in real money this season.)
