Gibson would be a huge question mark. Are his numbers lower these past few years due to playing with some really bad Anaheim teams or is this just who he is now? You’re taking a big risk gambling on Gibson returning to form with 4 years left on his contract at 6.4 million a year.

Yep. Nylander is my guess. He'll be out of our price range shortly, anyway. So move him while his value is high.

if it wasnt for Matthews constant back-checking and 2-way play, we'd have been out in round 1.
he'd likely say he was the best player, and wouldnt be that far off.

I would also say Rielly had a big role to play in that 1st round win as well. Just as much.
Could retool the team around Matthews/Rielly by moving others (core) to become more balanced in regular season and playoffs. Stronger from the net out and on D, with more bite on forward.

Pretty sure Lewis Gross will not even enter any sort of discussion until the Matthews contract is done. Treliving will just dump Nylander rather than play that game.

Samuel Montenbeault is considerated like Habs MVP of regular season both by fan, media and whatever... He was at 3.42 GAA and 0.901 sv % and im totally agree with it... montenbeault was the besr habs player because he was the only reason habs was able to be able to stay close competitive with a chance to win in majority of team game...The reality is in those kind of team, you can watch goalie stats to know if hes good or not, you need to watch him play

Personally, i dont have any doubt in my mind than Gibson still a top 10 goalie just playing in the worst NHL team...

I wouldn't say it's a huge overpay. You're moving Murray's contract off the books and replacing it with Helly. It's actually almost even when it comes to money in and money out, instead you're getting an all star goalie and a top 6 winger with size who can score. Robertson hasn't proved he can play in the nhl and injuries have really held him back, the 28th pick is pretty much for Winnipeg taking on Murray contract.

actauly, the evidence proves otherwise...
Dubas brought in Timmins, McCabe, Schenn, and Gustafsson, while we also had Lily playing in the top 4 all season long until a minor injury when he had a bad fall into the boards, and KEEFE elected to play Holl ahead of everyone save Schenn, and exited Lilly for Schenn and to keep Holl.

If Holl was Dubas's guy, he wouldnt have brought in 2 extra RHD and 2 LHD (and McCabe also plays RHD) to let Keefe replace Holl if he wanted.
this doesnt even include the fill in's Mete, and Benn (who played better than Holl also)

We will see soon enough but I have a feeling that it all comes down to Matthews and what his ask is which will then determine if at least one of the core get moved. And imo his ask is going to force Tre to move one of Marner/Nylander whether he wants to or not.
