teach and sharpen bottom 6 youngsters. keep toffoli (instead of lucic, if that's the dilemma), tylor might become a core guy soon. long-term lak needs some good coaching with youngsters, the rest is filling holes, like with sekera (or lucic, i suspect). there's a lot of talent in lak's bottom 6, just develop it. and keep kopi for god's sake.

Lucic has helped that 2nd line (or 1st?) in a huge way. I'd hate to see him go after this year. Not to mention he is that big front net presence that every team needs, especially on the pp. Lombardi's gotta find a way to persuade them to stay. :(

Yeah that last paragraph being casually slid in there has the sound of the record stopping

Brownie heading back home to Buffalo?

I'll believe it when I see it. His prognostication of who gets traded [ie Williams ]year after year ranks right up there with the other poo slinger. All he's doing is projecting what he wants to happen and stating the obvious.

Kopitar quickly climbing up the scoring ranks. Now tied for 3rd in goals and points on the team.

11 points in his last 15 games.
3 points in first 9 games.

What people commonly forget is being on the block and being traded are two different things. Williams was on the block at the time but was never traded. This doesn't mean John was wrong.

I'm amazed at the size of the balls of this guy. Both Friedman and Dreger reported this deal last week. Yet he is claiming "multiple sources" has told him the same term and money amount that Friedman and Dreger reported.

Hey, maybe I can start a blog too and claim "multiple sources" told me this and that all the time while I am scouring Twitter for my sources.

Oh yes he was. He responded to me in no uncertain terms that Williams would be traded by the trade deadline in 2014. Then when that didn't happen, he guaranteed that Williams would be traded in the summer of 2014. Then when Williams won the Conn Smythe, I asked him yet again if that trade was going to happen and he said that Williams' playoff performance "changed things."

But he was eventually correct. His contract ran out in 2015 and the two sides couldn't come to an agreement.

I'll give the Mayor credit for breaking the AHL West story, but other than that? Nope.

He used to be decent a few years ago but has turned to garbage lately.

While he did break it, the rumor of an AHL west had been floating around for about a year before it was official. His tweets for the next few days will be a rewording of the same Kopitar story in the form of click-bait.

Not quite the same thing. Saying Kopitar will be wearing the C next year is pretty bold.

Smells like last year a little. Just about back on his career pace again, but unless he goes bonkers, will still stop short of 70 pts.

No update on Kopitar contract extension. Status quo according to his agent, Pat Brisson.

However, their is also this.

UFA years were being bought on Kane and Sedin too

Kopitar had 2 less years of UFA.

You don't think Kopitar is looking at Kane's 13.8M salary this year compared to Kopi's $7.7M salary and thinking, damn, shouldn't have given up that extra year of UFA?

Cause Kane isn't $6.1M better than Kopitar.
