LD now and not at the trade deadline or offseason! Also, they need to acquire a PK/Utility player as the PK is still a weakness of the team. Regarding goaltending, they need to draft a goalie in the 1st or 2nd round of the draft! I would trade for Korpisalo to come into the picture with Copley for next season. Quick's $5.8 million cap hit needs to be offset after this season. He can either retire a King or try his chances with another team. Petersen is broken and might be a bust. He will have a chance to compete in training camp for next season, but I still don't see him being able to beat out Copley.

Yes, but he's not ready to coach till next season. I loved Trotz as a Caps fan for winning a Cup, but if the Kings were to hire Trotz, it would be Sutter Hockey all over again. That means the offense will suffer. Trotz also leans on veterans over developing young players. Bruce Boudreau would be a better coach to bring in if they want to make a coaching change. Boudreau is a players coach, he works well with both vets and rookies/younger players and he gets the most out of his players. I'm not sure TMac probably stays unless the Kings can't win any playoff series within the next 2 years including this one.
Felt bad for Bruce. Just a shit situation. Would like to see him go out on a higher note. I've always had a soft spot for Trotz and wanted to know what he could do in LA but not sure if that's in the cards either. I think it will be someone else to get LA over the hurdle in the playoffs. Right now, it's more about making the playoffs and going a bit deeper than last year and getting the kids more experience. Playing more offensive hockey is something that this team has sorely needed and it's fun to see that again, because honestly, we never had a strong offensive team in years. I love D, but Offensive hockey can be exciting and creative to watch.

Coming back to earth......When I look back on some of the moves management has made, Cernak still really bites. Just a shit trade. Size, strength, sticks up for his team..we need that which is why we still have Lemieux cause at least someone won't hesitate to agitate or fight. But we're going to have to pull the trigger and make a decision soon on our core and once done, then players like Lemieux can also move on because we have improved the size and snarl of this team. In a nutshell, this pipeline needs to move a bit and I like assets but we need some bite on D and clearly don't have it. DD is not getting any younger and if there is a window, force it open or move him a long as well for a good return and build this team up even better.

We need to make 2 trades before we add anything. It’s like my wife and her damn shoe and purse closet. We have 2 extra top 9 forwards 2 prospects that are too long in the tooth up front and 2 right Shit dman that need to be traded. Would love to see us add 2-3 second rounders in draft capital for this years draft to get Yags some leverage.

A couple good picks will drop out of the first round and it would be nice to have another 2nd to move up in the 1st. Got to layer the reserves in case we are a cup contender in 2-3 years

I think they will need to move a winger simply for cap reasons (Moore, Iafallo, Arvidsson). I don’t want to lose one as such but they now have kids pushing hard to move out the lineup and if they can balance the D it will counter losing one. I think we are headed to a spot where such a trade does not hurt the offence. Remember Vilardi is getting a big bump also.

What’s the ask on Chychrun? If the Kings put Bjornfot,Turcotte,1st, and Walker/Petersen. If that price works I’d pull it.

I’ve noticed some people say he’s not that good either. But price for sure.

If I’m Blake I look at Jake McCabe and Zack Kassian. I don’t think they will give AZ or Columbus what they want for those top LHD. Also, Kassian against Edmonton would be epic.

We'll have a little over $13M to take care of Anderson, Vilardi, Kupari, Fagemo, JAD, and Toby. Lemmy will be replaced by one of those, so no need to acquire anyone. We will also need 2 goalies unless Cal substitutes his Disney movie-watching for Kung-Fu flicks for the entire summer and toughens up.

It's not really all that bad, I think Grundstrom could go, that's a million in change.

The RFA's will be covered, but any move that brings in a D or goalie will have to match salary out and in for sure.

So we do need to move 1-2 wingers/Dmen if we want a solid goalie or two. But I agree, it isn’t impossible considering a guys like Tonka would be easy to move.

A great 3rd line center would have more positive impact on the roster than a LHD IMO. Perhaps the main reason Seattle is having so much success is because their depth players are consistently outplaying opponents.

You need to be able to roll 4 effective lines.

This is why I think QB needs to be centering a line and not playing wing.

I also think it's a misconception that we don't need more scoring. The Kings offensive stats are skewed by the run and gun style they were playing earlier in the season, and by the PP. Over the past month or so, they've started playing better team defense, but they're now having problems scoring at ES because of it.

So I think an offensively capable LHD on the 2nd pair might make more sense than a defensive dman there, since Roy is already the stay at home guy on that pair.

Posters here have tried to talk down Chychrun, but he's 6th in the entire NHL in ES P60 among Dmen. And that's while playing on anemic Coyotes team.

Where we really need a big physical defensive dman is on the bottom pair in Edler's spot.

I wouldn't touch QB this season. We've found our top line, 55 - 11 - 9. Once Moore comes back (or if, I guess?), reunite the second line, 12 - 24 - 33. That does leave us with a 3C hole, but I wonder if Turcotte or Kupari could solve that. Including Gabe, you've got 22 - 39 - 13. That could leave us with a fourth line of Iafallo, Lizotte, and Kaliyev. That's really good. Plus you'd have JAD, Lemieux, and Grundstrom as depth.

Byfield - Kopitar - Kempe
Moore - Danault - Arvidsson
Fiala - Turcotte/Kupari - Vilardi
Iafallo - Lizotte - Kaliyev
Lemieux, JAD, Grundstrom

(One thing to note, we can only carry two extra forwards. That means someone is being sent down. Unless it's both Turcotte and Kupari, someone is getting waived. I really hate Lizotte as our 3C though, and don't think anyone else would be a good fit in that role. Not sure what to do there. Maybe just waive or trade Grundstrom or Lemieux?)

That leaves the defense. I think the obvious solution for me is just to sit Walker and play Bjornfot. It's almost too simple a solution. I don't mind having Walker as depth for the playoffs, injuries can be a real pain.

Anderson - Doughty
Bjornfot - Durzi
Edler - Roy
Walker

So here's my crazy idea: what if we traded for Jonathan Toews? We have several trade chips that may not have roster spots (with Kaliyev, Kupari, Bjornfot, Fagemo, Madden, and Thomas all requiring waivers next season). If Toews was centering our third line with Fiala and Vilardi, we'd have three of the best lines in hockey. That could be a first line on some teams.

Three guys on Chicago that would help us this year: Toews, McCabe, and Stalock.

Just something to think about. This isn't a long-term move, just an interesting nudge for the playoffs this year. I'd love for Turcotte to learn from a guy like Toews.

Byfield - Kopitar - Kempe
Moore - Danault - Arvidsson
Fiala - Toews - Vilardi
Iafallo - Lizotte - Kaliyev

Anderson - Doughty
McCabe - Durzi
Bjornfot - Roy

Copley
Stalock

QB on the 1st line wing lets him learn the NHL level game faster with 20 mins a game instead of his 11 mins centering the 4th line.
Also gives him some PP time he wasn't getting before.
I agree it allows him to get more time, but if you have line of say Fiala/Byfield/Vilardi, that line should still be getting a lot of minutes. The Kings have enough depth at forward to roll the lines more evenly.

Him being on the 1st line has nothing to do with PP time or learning to play the game faster.
