I think it really depends upon what Blake thinks of the team and whether or not he feels playoffs now are important.

Teams are loading up near the deadline, Seattle has already caught and passed LA, Edmonton is on a heater Vegas has cap space to reload and Calgary has the 4th easiest schedule the reminder of the year and enough cap space to take on a couple of large contracts at the TDL, they are also in a win now window that could be closing so very motivated.

LA has Edmonton, Vegas if they reload, Calgary, Colorado and maybe Nashville all on the heals of AL for a division or WC spot.

If they start loading up it is an arms race and Demko could be the difference. He kept the Canucks in most games and his recent time off ice cold be a desire to change teams, that has been whispered around since summer that he has a desire to return to SO. CAL.

So it is just asking "Do you think Blake should react or lead the charge?"

IMO if he waits to react then he loses the advantage of having more points even if the other teams have more games in hand, he loses the momentum.

Seems the reference was more to their bodies both falling apart. We’ve already got one of those in Quick. And one whose brain is falling apart in Petersen.
Petersen could be a part of a Demko trade to Vancouver if enough assets are attached.
Bolded above. It just isn't that easy. At least half the teams in the league are trying to get rid of dead cap money, and it costs serious assets to do it. The Canucks would give away 3 - 4 players right now for nothing if they could.
One player, OEL and it is that it is his contract and he is playing outside of his traditional role as the go to PP and offensive guy. I think Miller will be, or hope he will be traded very soon or before his new contract comes into effect.
It's especially weird in this market where we've seen so many players have age 25+ breakouts in recent memory - Naslund, Bertuzzi, Sedins, Kesler, Burrows, Miller.
One thing is common with all those 25+ guys, their cup window ended up being a one and done or 3 years by that age.
i know it's not easy. i think vancouver's management assumed it would be and made poor decisions as a result. ie, signing boeser, not moving garland/pearson when there was an opportunity, signing miller when the anticipated return in trade wasn't to their liking, etc
Ya, first year chitters.
They gave Boser the benefit of the doubt and got around that 8 million dollar QO but now, he is not a bad player but the contract.
Garland was an insane signing, an part time NHL player earning the cap minimum and a RFA to boot goes from 800K to 5 million. That's Benning for you.
But his Dad, Tocchet does like him.
Miller - Vegas - Washington - Pittsburgh - ..... older teams in "win now" windows

I do believe that trading for Demko with his gigantic health questions is not way to go for Kings and it is not only my opinion.

#LAKings Why Thatcher Demko shouldn’t be an option for the LA Kings (Hockey Royalty) (letsgokings.com)

Depends on what they are trying to do this season.

If they think they have any kind of chance you have to address the goaltending. And preferably with a long-term option, time to cash in some of the u-25 depth. You can’t tell us you think you have a chance at winning the cup and roll with the 3 guys you have.

Defensive oriented LD is next up, and probably the second most challenging thing to get after a goalie. Other teams are looking for this too.

The easiest thing they can do is just trade for a couple of bottom six rentals so the 4th line isn’t a total disaster if you should suffer a couple of injuries, as has been the case. It should take injury Armageddon to see Fagemo, Turcotte and Lemieux on the ice in the playoffs. Right now that is a couple of injuries away from being reality. But you don’t want to being in guys beyond this year, because you want those 2 guys to take ownership of those roles as soon as next season.

I do not believe that Kings are interested in charity from Vancouver regarding Petersen, which could be a part of a Demko trade.

Especially, if enough LA assets are attached.

Demko has multiple lengthy absences due to hip injuries.
This is a talented player but he should be examined very carefully and only acquired based on low expectations.
If you look at him as a guy who has three or four years longevity before his hips are shot then you make a deal based on that price. He is likely to be done at 32 ala Corey Schneider.
If Vancouver wants to trade him at a price that reflects those realities, then you can talk. But if they want to parade around demanding massive compensation for their "franchise" "top 5" goalie then it would be best to wish them well and head for the nearest exit.

I am reminded of several years ago at a draft the Canucks stunned the entire world by trading Schneider to NJ for the 9th pick which became Bo Horvat. Schneider was a hot property and everyone couldnt believe they had traded him instead of Luongo and for only a single 1st rounder. Vancouver knew what was coming, we didnt.

Blake is doing the right thing, doing nothing.
This team is going nowhere the next 2 years and there is no reason waste assets.
It absolutely doesn't matter who is the Goalie and i would prefer Petersen back in goal since Copley
wins all the unnecessary games.

If any, Blake should give Copley a 2 year deal because he is the one that keeps the Kings in the game.
That's about it

What does this even mean? What are unnecessary games?
Giving up good assets for a rental would not be smart but if you can get a guy thats signed like Mccabe for say Walker, Fagemo, a 2nd rounder and 3rd rounder it is cool.
Or Merilainen out of Ottawa in the offseason for a right dman you are dealing from a position of strength.
Also a rental like Mikkola has been mentioned and if it isnt expensive could pay off long term.

Unnecessary games are games you win for no reason.
We are in no way or shape ready to compete for the cup and every won game is taking us
more and more away from good draft picks.
All this for a veteran reunion tour with predictable outcome.
Fagemo is a future 30 goal scorer and shouldn't included in any trade deal

Winning is all good experience for the young guys coming through, even if you dont think they have a realistic chance of winning the cup. Playing playoff games, pressure games is all good.

Which might be true but i IMO the Kids will develope anyways regardless of winning or loosing

Blake has nothing to lose by just being Blake and sitting on his hands. Half the fanbase will applaud the patient rebuild as we cruise into 28/29 with seventeen RHD and the ghost of Jonathan Quick still in net.
Lol. To flesh it out a little more: he will have the best top 6 in the league taking up 75% of the cap, 25% on bottom 6 and D, and a shooter tutor in goal

Well, let's hope they actually make the playoffs AND that the youth gets to play. We're not far removed from Byfield Vilardi Kupari et. al. sitting on the bench while both the NHL AND AHL teams lost.

Possible, but IMO it is easier to develop in a successful environment, assuming you are getting enough gametime and responsibility.

Nobody likes losing all the time.

Well this would imply that the youngsters are actually playing, which they are not.
Byfield got more icetime but i am highly suspicious, if crunchtime comes, Iafallo will be back on line 1 and Byfield plays with Lemieux

A GM "Sitting on his hands" is often the best move.

If this team is as bad as some Blake haters imply, trading assets to try and improve it would seem like a waste.

If they're not a contender without Gavrikov, they certainly won't be one after trading a 1st + for him. Would barely move the needle. Probably best to do nothing.

You’re absolutely right. Blake’s window to actually improve the team was last summer, and he failed to do so.

But don’t worry; he’ll get another chance this summer as long as all the acolytes continue the “there is no war in Ba Sing Se” propaganda campaign.

Any news on the injuries? Vilardi and Moore. Any timeline ?
I think this has a big bearing on what Blake does. Also Arty because with the step QB has taken we will suddenly have a very strong top 9. A LD probably is the most sensible move and it will also let them properly see if Copley can take the pressure of being ‘the guy’ down the stretch and maybe into the Play-offs.

You don't feel the Fiala trade improved the team?
