Chychrun fights too. Dude can do it all. Only downside is injury issues but he’s been healthy this season and personally that’s a risk I’d take on for someone who can do it all. Him on the team will push the Kings a lot closer to contention. No solid Ld in the pipeline. We have nothing. I’d pay him whatever they want personally. You can hate the price but you certainly can’t deny the fitment for this team

He's been healthy this season? He's played in 24 out of a possible 40 games. Doesn't scream healthy to me.

Prior to this, the past 6 years games played: 47, 56, 63, 53, 50, 68.

This is the single biggest factor for me not wanting to make a trade for Chychrun. I don't think any of us question his abilities.

Bjornfot/Turcotte/1st and Walker/Petersen? What else can we give them?

You’re right. I meant he hasn’t been reinjured this season since he’s joined the line up again. I’d personally take that trade if that was an ask. He’s much better than any one of those individual pieces

I may be in the minority, but I think LA should keep Bjornfot around.
21 yr old steady dman with over 100 NHL gms played I think it'd be a mistake to include him in any rental deal. Plus he's cheap. I'd argue he'd be in the lineup this season if they didn't resign Edler. Kid could step right in and not hurt the team.

Nope, definitely not in the minority....but you are grouped in with me, so not sure what's worst.

There is ZERO reason to move Bjornfoot......none. He will be the one replacing Edler next year

I think it too much. I would not give 1st in this year draft for him.

The first pick is interesting this year. Seems to be by all accounts a deep draft. If LA does not have an ungodly losing streak in the near future, the pick likely will be high teens into the 20s.

Does that make the pick more palatable to move? Something to look at closer to the deadline no doubt but an interesting thought. For the first time ever I'm hoping the Kings take best goalie available if they can't add one by other means.

I do.

Everyone thinks they're getting a surefire 1D that can play both ways and an eventual doughty 'replacement'.

He's an offensive dman not worth 4 1sts/1st equivalents. There's a reason AZ has him playing literally TWICE the ozone starts of anyone but ghost. I'm not faulting them for playing a guy to his strengths, but it's them talking out of both sides of their mouth that he's only effective deployed as Erik Karlsson but asking for the value of a Pietrangelo. I'm not comfortable with it unless his value is barely more than Muzzin.

I don't think people are expecting him to be an eventual Doughty replacement.

The Kings have excess RHD, excess forwards, and are short LHD. So you move assets from areas of excess to an area where you're short.

Kupari, Durzi, 1st, Petersen

That might make some sense for us. Not sure if AZ would do it, but it's essentially 3 1st round assets + cap dump.

*AZ recently said they'd be willing to take on a cap dump to make the deal work.

What’s the ask on Chychrun? If the Kings put Bjornfot,Turcotte,1st, and Walker/Petersen. If that price works I’d pull it.

I’ve noticed some people say he’s not that good either. But price for sure.
Lol. The Coyotoes won't even sniff at that. It will take AT LEAST something like Byfield, Kaliyev/Spence AND two firsts (23 & 24). Would you be willing to pay THAT price?

Well, you're right there. I mean this is definitely increasing his trade value. I'm saying the guy has skills, but I still don't want him on the team. I think we have plenty of offensive D-men...I'd rather have another Mikey clone with a little more size who can play heavy in the playoffs.

Not all 1st round equivalent assets are equal.

In these types of trades it's usually late 1st round equivalent assets.

I don't really disagree but let's be real, when AZ says 3-4 1st round assets, they don't mean 4 Kuparis.

Maybe I'm assuming too much but I don't think he's going to be worth the ransom he gets from a more desperate window-open team like TO. Or, he MAY be worth it to them since their clock is ticking in a different way than ours is.

If it shapes up to be Seattle we go up against, it will be a war. That team has something going and nothing to lose. We need to get bigger....on D and a crash and banger forward. I hope we don't use the 2023 1st but I also think management wants to get past the first round, so we'll see.

Teams like Toronto dont have a Byfield to trade though. Or Turcotte and Kaliyev. Maybe Knies is valued as much? I dont think he is.
So asking for Byfield +++ is kind of outrageous especially considering no other team that has those kind of assets are really looking to scoop Chychrun.

I don't think Chychrun is as good as Muzzin, to be honest. Chychrun is a low 40's point defenseman if deployed in normal (not stat padding) situations. Muzzin was around that range as well for a few years, and was far better at defense and way more physical. He went for a first and two 2nd round equivalents, but was out of a contract. Chychrun is under a great contract so the value is upped quite a bit, but a first, Durzi as a replacement, and another mid to late first-round equivalent is far as I would go.

Hard to tell right now. Even Sean Walker is looking better as of late. Considering we werent supposed to make the playoffs last year, I think you don’t go for it this year and continue to see what we have with the youth. You have to get Spence and Bjornfoot in some games though.

I’d say we need to trade a defenseman to free up a slot, and if you forced me to make a deal, maybe upgrade the physicality on the backend if you’re going to do anything at all. BTW I don’t think there is any chance Durzi is traded, considering how much the players seem to love him. All signs point to Walker being the odd man out.

You make a move to reward the teams play, with that said, that’s not saying trade away the youth for a overpriced piece but rather look for size and toughness as the playoffs will be a grind..

On the Durzi topic, he’s terrible at defense but that’s not what he’s here for. He’s overplayed and on his offside at that only amplifies that deficiency. This is where you pair Bjornfot with Roy to create a shutdown pair and move Durzi with Edler..
