What exactly does Reaves do?

If he’s not reacting on a night like last night, he has no purpose. Like said earlier, he’s only here to establish a media career.

Since the first few games he doesn't hit, doesn't fight, is a liability on the ice and spends all shifts in his own end. Black hole offensively. Marchand takes out Lilly and Reaves sits on the bench chirping like it is whatever.

The argument the team would somehow play taller is not translating.
Every treliving acquisition looks lousy.
Just as ud expect for a GM hired by Shanahan

The Leafs softness rubbed off of him. He was good in the first couple games.

Bertuzzi, Domi also showing 0 bite.
This team hasn't defended itself since the Orr, McLaren, Fraser, Brown days. They don't give a f*** about each other. They're not a team. They're a collection of guys that wear the same jersey. It's been that way for years. They don't care about each other.

The same people whining and crying saying he didn't do anything to Marchand, would be the same ones whining and crying if he did and took a 2 min/5 min penalty.
So you are ok with the lack of response by the team when their team mate is done dirty and injured?

I like tough hockey, but said when you signed him to look out. Reaves doesn't really have the effect he is rumored to have. He talks alot more than he acts. He doesn't deter anything. Three years is about two and a half more than you want. Marchand would never engage with him. The move Reaves needs to pull is to have the team get one of those scrums going and while the linesmen are occupied, pick a guy who isn't a fighter and throw him a beating, then if he wants to talk, he can tell the Bruins bench he's going to keep picking other people to beat up until Marchand takes his medicine. It probably gets him thrown out and costs his team the game, but at least you could say he was doing something.

Nothing lmao. Should just waive him and let him spend his time on the bus. Might actually make him retire.

You aren't paying him much. If you want to put him out there to fight, he will do that and again, you arent paying him much to do that.

The issue as many have said...when he is on the ice maybe you aren't paying him much, but he CAN HURT you as a hockey player so you are paying 'not much' for someone who is, right now, a liability.

Could it be that Keefe held him back last night? This guy knows his job but if the Leafs are not allowing him do it, trade him to Minnesota already.

Marchand would have turtled anyway. He should have taken a run at one of their good players.

IMO, Domi should have went after Marchand. He needs to bring something at some point.

Domi to Marchand, Reaves should have grabbed Frederic or Carlo and not given a choice

Reaves is the player u can afford to get misconduct or majors
He isn't really an nhl player anymore
was coming to say this. obviously you have to careful of a bertuzzi (todd) situation but after a dirty play like that from a vet on a young player, you go out there and punch him in the face

I also hope Lil comes out and just be honest. I'm a young player, trying to get my career going and someone like that does something like that. Its embarrassing

You can find a locker room DJ for 775k, I would be waiving him today.
I imagine when he wasn't put on the ice the next shift he was sitting there wondering "what am I here for?"
IMO, it's hard to blame him.

Exactly.....Keefe is really puzzling.

Reaves just reminds me of that bygone era of enforcer that just has no one to dance with in today's NHL. Rats like Marchand, Tkachuk, Bennett, aren't going to drop the gloves.

I know it sounds counterintuitive, but I'd be fine with him grabbing Marchand on his next shift after that Liljegren injury and just pounding on him. Take the instigator penalty, take a suspension if that's what you need to do, but make one of their more important guys pay a price.

I'm not sure what anyone expected. Enforcers who can't play haven't been a thing for quite a while in the NHL. I would have loved it if Reaves knocked someones head off after the can opener by Marchand, but the reality is it would just cost the Leafs a PP. The Leafs already learned this lesson the last time around with blowhard Burke and his truculence. Personally, I'd be ok taking the penalty to send a message, but Keefe obviously wasn't.

You need toughness or at least drive in your players that actually play the minutes. I hate agreeing with Kypreos, but the clip he showed in the intermission says a lot about the Leafs. Besides Reaves, they were completely disinterested that one of their teammates was injured on a dirty play. Marchand should have been pasted every time he touched the puck the rest of the night, but this team has absolutely no grit and no heart.

How many shifts did Reaves even get after the hit?

Reaves knows his role and Domi was out with Marchand to end the period, they just create the situation and that was done

Keefe maybe gave him 1 shot at it? I don't necessarily need it to be Marchand either, I wouldn't mind if Reaves took out someone important on their side just to get the point across.

Domi is another guy that could have done something. He fought a couple guys for hitting Kane last year.

This seems to happen with every remotely gritty guy we bring in, either corporate sends out a memo to keep it clean for families watching the game or Keefe just neuters anyone we get.

I'd be willing to try a different coach and see what we get.

Reaves never has and never will fight a guy like Kane. Most fighters understand their role better than that.

Domi fought after a star, which Lily isn't.

Keefe has regularly used fighters, arguably when he shouldnt have, and encouraged responses like the start of the TB series
