Still boggles my mind that people don't understand what "No Move Clause" means and that John Tavares has one.

...And that he had 80 points last year, his most points per game since 18-19

Tavaras is still worth 8 anyways .and there is light after this contract.
The other 3 would be running the team if they all resigned

This team needs the owner to open his eyes.

The Leafs are the laughingstock of the NHL. The funny thing is, they don't realize everyone is laughing AT them, not with them. All this humiliation stems from the very top.

The joke of an owner.

You would think a guy that owned a multi-billion dollar NHL franchise would take a look at the results and ask some hard questions about his team. Like, "Why are the fans turning away and what can I do about it?" Tanenbaum doesn't realize drastically underachieving results normally drives away fans and results in significant changes.

Not for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Tanenbaum thinks all he has to do is spend to the cap. That spending to the cap means the team is good. Because no owner would spend like he did if the team wasn't good.

The Leafs continue to get more laughs than a Robin Williams flick as a result.

That's never gonna change. Not as long as the owner is too stupid to figure it out. Right now Tanenbaum is completely oblivious.

The emperor is the only one who doesn't realize he isn't wearing any clothes.

Well, to the OP's question:

Amongst other moves I'd like us to take a kick at Ryan Graves if he makes it past July 1st.

Skill & speed doesn't get you to the tough areas of the ice to score those goals. They had the puck pretty much all night against Florida in games 2 and 5, as well as game 7 against Montreal, game 5 against CBJ, etc. It's always the same patterns.
They spent significantly more time in the dirtier areas than FLA did in Game 2 and 5. We spent more time in the crease, slot and battling through traffic. Florida largely scored on odd man rushes and quick strike opportunities.

Feels like a double standard of whats dangerous.

The Team needs a Tasmanian Devil. Someone that goes balls to the wall and is tenacious. Darcy Tucker was the last one we had. Players feed off that kind of energy

Need more than 1 guy like that to play and feed off that style of game . Darcy had Corson , Roberts , Domi, Green , McCabe all bringing it every night.

I agree but for that guy to be truly effective he has to also be able to play. Tucker was a 60 point player, that’s hard to find.

Why not try to put two power forwards around Auston Matthews and recreate the 2024 version of a Legion of Doom Line? Matthews is a bit of a chameleon in the sense that he can be a power forward, a defensively conscious forward, a skilled based finesse sniper, etc.

In the playoffs, I think Matthews and Marner reinforce the weaker aspects of their mid pacing finesse game. Maybe we need two 6'4" beasts who can be wrecking balls and create space for Matthews to operate.
The best thing the Leafs could do is replace a couple finesse players with good producers who bring more jam to the ice. Surround Matthews with Knies and JT Miller to start. Add a tenacious pest like Konecny or a budding power forward like Boldy if possible. Tom Wilson is too banged up, but a prime Tom Wilson would be perfect.

Look at Florida... they ooze skill... but the trio of Bennett, Tkachuk and Cousins drive that engine and are a complete nightmare to play against each night.

I don't envy the new GM. He's got to make quick decisions on the extension boys (Matthews, Nylander) plus Marner's upcoming NMC. And it doesn't stop there. He'll have to re-populate half of our forwards, possibly replace Samsonov (you can't qualify him, he'll get too much), definitely replace Murray, source 3 maybe more defensemen. This team hasn't been left in great shape, it was a fortuitous time for a GM to George Costanza his gig here. It feels a little like the team was booby trapped to self destruct starting in the summer of 2023.

First,
the team needs a new president replacing shanahan.
the team needs a new head replacing keefe.
the team needs a new GM who wont give up high draft picks( 1st, and 2nd).

Hopefully they just needed a kick in the ass of having the GM and coach removed. Unless there are huge changes it’s now all on the core to deliver. They either sulk and show their true colours of being ultimate losers or they step up and refuse to be outplayed by any other player in the league.

How awful for fans like yourself. It can be difficult to worry about people laughing at your sports team.

The teams needs

1) to trade Marner for a top D man

2) to replace Keefe

3) to re-sign Accarri, Kampf, Lafferty and Schenn.

4) get rid of Justin Holl

5) Find a new GM who can actually make trades and negotiate contracts
Is this a manifesto or an argument?

Leafs are BY FAR the wealthiest and most profitable team in the NHL.

That’s all that matters to MLSE.

It must be even more difficult for fans like yourself who don't have any pride in their hometown team.

Sad really.

I think the d could be in bad shape next season. A couple good top 4 dmen would be great but I don't know how the Leafs would do that.

No pride?
I'm a man not a child. I dont give a f*** what other people think? Most people laughing or crying, pay zero attention all year long and pass judgement at the end of the year based on how the farts smell. Worrying about the nattering isn't a good way to live. It's like sitting in a knitting circle

For someone who doesn't "give a f*** what others think" about, their favourite team you have a huge number of posts all season long that seems to indicate that you do, but I won't judge.

If not having pride in your hometown team makes you a better fan than I, then congratulations, wear that badge with honour.

You've earned it.

I don't get this pride in something that's completely out of my sphere of influence and control to alter/change. Such a mindset is really a pleb thing. I didn't accomplish anything when my favourite team won a big game. I didn't fail when they failed to win. We should aspire to be more than a passive bystander wearing colours. Me painting a room or cooking a meal is more accomplishment than anything to do with my pastime as a Leafs' fan.
