We'll be back next year. Flames win 3 - 1

Holy Smokes! Wouldn't that be something! I don't care if it's 2% it would be worth not makin the playoffs.

I know someone who does energy healing and she said whatever energy people send out always somehow affects the recipient but it always balance out ... Maybe McDavid can be our balancing out factor. :D

I'm already over it. These guys just finished a ridiculous 3+ year run and it'll never be forgotten by me. You have to learn to expect the unexpected and this season was filled with twists and turns which eventually ended in the Kings not having enough to get into the playoffs. There were so many un-Kings-like results on the ice which were pretty much red flags that things just weren't right on the ice. Kings strengths became Kings weaknesses this season. Defense, penalty kill, protecting leads, center-play. All markedly down. Will we see a bounce back next year? They're certainly capable. The team needs to recharge their batteries. Lombardi's got his work cut out for him, that's for sure. With this past season, there's no excuse not to make moderate changes at the least. Infuse some young blood and wish some veterans well. I'm excited to see what Dean does.

Kings win the division next year and storm into the playoffs and Brown has a record year next season. Bookmark this post.

I can accept getting knocked out in the playoffs, but to not even make the post-season? Rosen just relayed how Justin Williams is feeling, can you imagine how the suits upstairs feel? Imagine the anger in there.

Bring on the John Stevens era. How about Mike Babcock?

If there wasn't any history between Lombardi and Sutter, it would be fair to speculate Sutter would be on the hot seat to start the '15-'16 season. Wasn't Joel Quenville in something similar a couple years ago?

A solid home record completely negated by a horrific road campaign. What was it, five wins heading into February? I recall at that point they were ranked 29th on the road, just ahead of Buffalo, and behind Edmonton.

This team isn't old, age isn't a factor, I'm not buying the fatigue excuse either, so what was it? Were they prepared enough? Perhaps the coach's message is getting stale, there didn't seem to be any response from the guys; just went through the motions till the all-star break.

The players though…there needs to be some change here, no question. What happened this season needs to be dealt with. Just absolutely embarrassing.

Maple Leafs, Canadiens, Devils, Hurricanes, and now Kings.

Seriously don't give a **** about this distinction...which basically means the team won the Cup the previous year.

I'll take this every ****ing other year, if it means winning Cups.

Would love to have him, but it's not going to happen. It's either Sutter, or Stevens.

Internet high ****ing five!

Only way Sutter goes is if it's on his own terms. If he retires. I don't think he will, though. If he does, I'd love Tippett. Great coaching style and has Kings ties.

Some thoughts:

- I like Darryl Sutter as a person, but Coach Sutter showed a complete lack of class and respect to Jon Rosen, a real gentleman. Rosen has been a model of self-restraint but I'm sure deep down part of him felt like going all Peter Dinklage on Will Ferrell.

- KingsFan7824, with another excellent post.

- Even if the Kings has gotten into the playoffs, I think they would've been bounced in the first round. They just didn't have it this year.

- I am a fan of the Mayor. I enjoy his podcasts, radio interviews, and Manchester interviews.

- All credit to the Flames and the Jets. They deserved it more.

- Props to Jordan Nolan for keeping the Kings from being shut out tonight.

- I saw other teams in the league get better this season, but we didn't, at least not until acquiring Sekera.

- With the Kings having so much trouble scoring but having a good goals against, I would have liked to see more McBain. When he was in, we scored more.

- So we have a 2% chance of getting McDavid. If we get him, we'll turn him into a 15-goal scorer in no time. Kings Country, where offense goes to die.

- What are our chances of getting the 2nd or 3rd pick?

- Love this Kings team. Thanks for the memories, guys. :yo:

Also, as for the IIHC, I hope no Kings go. We keep talking about how tired these guys are and how much they need a break, well wouldn't playing in this tournament basically contradict our MAIN reason for missing the playoffs?

Shore is going back to Manchester, so he won't be playing in the tournament. At least we can watch the Monarchs in the playoffs, btw. Should be good, would be nice to see this group go deep in the playoffs and gain some experience.

It doesn't mean anything. Two of those teams won again some time later(Montreal and New Jersey).

I agree with most of this.
A few things:
**** the Mayor
We aren't getting a top pick. The a Kings aren't going to win the lottery. Edmonton will.
**** the Mayor.

What's with the hate for Mayor here? I like his insight and he's usually right when it comes to rumours and call ups. Breaks the news before most Kings writers and he broke the Sekera trade, Nick Shore call ups, etc. In all honesty, we're lucky to have a guy like Mayor, not all teams have guys who can break trades and has inside knowledge like he does.

As a Ducks fan, I got to live through the cup run, attending many games
with my 13 year old daughter. Got to go to one players' day with the Cup.
Memories I still smile at.

The run the Kings have been on was tough for us, but man the Kings have been
a serious, serious team.
Great run, with a great GM. He will keep you guys scary

You're fired

Icarus flew a little too high this year, I reckon. Also consider this:

Our entire second pairing from 2014 was gone.

We lost 15 games in SO/OT.

We still took it to game 81.

Pearson broken leg. Toffoli, Kopitar, Gaborik, Muzzin, and Martinez all out for long stretches of time.

Richards waived. Voynov off ice distraction.

Pretty tumultuous year. Those are all excuses, and they don't mean much because despite it all, the Kings could have still made it. But still. Tough year.

Godreau won me over tonight, though. That kid raised his game. As Kings fans, we should know what that looks like, and therefore be able to respect it.

And we STILL finished with 93-95 points. That's what it took to bang us down. This is a damn good team.

Agreed on Gaudreau, I was banging him pretty hard earlier in the year and said he would disappear in the big games. Granted, I don't think that was the best WE had to offer, but he more than did his part. That line with him Monahan and Hudler is ultra-dynamic. I'm actually more shocked by Hudler than the other two. Regardless, that guy did a Kings-style game elevation.

What's with the hate for Mayor here?

Because the mayor is a moron.

No the **** he is not. Not even close. The mayor is a broken clock.

Next question.
