We'll be back next year. Flames win 3 - 1

The franchise is on solid ground. No need for major changes. Let's see who we can sign in our free agent group, sort out the Voynov situation, and gear up for next year.

The reality is this is a solid playoff team without the 3-15 OT record.

I get your passion and appreciate it, but I don't think it was arrogance, but more as in "missteps" from Lombardi.

Clearly, he made a mistake with Richards. Can't blame the man for his loyalty, or maybe you can, but I rather have a GM with both a brain and a heart rather than some POS loser GM like Doug Wilson that has neither. Bottom line, loyalty goes a long way with players and the trust that brings along with it. Lombardi may have made a mistake with Richards but the increased understanding that the room felt for Lombardi's move during the season to demote him to the minors was tolerated at a much higher level than it may have been if Lombardi merely pulled the string and dumped Richards in the off-season.

Arrogance could have played a part. Or maybe it was this foolish "not too high, not too low" concept that did them in. I've never seen a team so detached when there should've been a response during their gradual collapse mid-season. They "figured it out" sometime in February, but it was Jarret Stoll who expressed "you can't rely on a switch to play hockey", nor will it be fixed by that switch. Whatever the case, the end result was a humbling 18th place finish.

I think what has me particularly salty is that the 49ers missed, the Lakers were never going to be in, and now the Kings are out. I'm 0-3 so far this year for my teams and the playoffs.

Gotta wait til October for the Dodgers.

I'm sure some knob will show up and accuse me of making excuses, but I still firmly believe they're simply exhausted. A long Summer of relaxation and training will do wonders. After the last three seasons, this Summer will feel like an eternity and that's a great thing.

Doughty's back must be shot from carrying this team all season. I guarantee he's at least a Norris finalist next year.

There's plenty of reasons and sure, ultimately they're all 'excuses,' but I agree, because that one passes the eye test more than most of the others.

I don't think Fatigue played a roll in the decline of Brown/Richards. Both of those guys look to be in tip top shape.

They just don't have that (swagger, jam,Game ETC) for scoring anymore like they use too.\

Guys like Kopitar/Quick/Doughty/Williams, did look fatigued at certain points this season.

Yeah, like the beginning, middle, and end :P

Quit making excuses for these guys!!!

Someone summed up our road trip.

Given that the Kings allowed an EN in the next 15 seconds, and that they have routinely given up ENs pretty quickly, what motivation does Sutter have (really) to pull the goaltender with more than just a minute or so left in the game? Do the Kings EVER score with a 6-on-5?

Literally, the last time I can recall us doing so was in the 2013 playoffs against San Jose, with Voynov getting the tying goal.

Does anyone recall a more recent 6-on-5 winner in the last couple of minutes of the game?

I guess i saw it as a better chance to tie it up with possession than without, having to gain the zone all over again once they lost it. They had control for nearly a minute while Quick was in net, in the most important game and he waited until after they lose it to pull him. Just scratching my head at the entire 2 minutes and his choice, no matter what our EN record was not to get the extra guy out there sooner.

I'm on the regulate bandwagon, who I still occasionally mistake for Bandit because of his avatar.

They played almost a full season's worth more games over the last 3 seasons, plus the Olympics. 60+!

I mean, I get tired when I go to the gym for an hour. :) The level of endurance required to play almost a full season's more hockey than most other teams over that time span has to take a toll. They aren't robots.
