Kings stopped hitting. Vegas got got more room and their skill took over. 28 hits in the first period. Maybe 17 the rest of the game? Kings are too slow and had no legs.
 
One of my kids has been watching Battlestar Galactica on Netflix (a little too busy with school to see it the first time around). Maybe Blake can build a Resurrection Ship and bring back the old band.
 
It'd be good to trade Quick, Toffoli, Pearson, and Muzzin maybe. Even Carter if Vilardi is ready.


I'm ready to let those guys all go.

If they can trade Kopitar, Doughty, Quick, Carter, Brown, Toffoli and maybe a few others it would be a good choice.

If you are referring to the expansion draft setup, their owner paid a shit load of cake (record fee for a professional sports expansion fee, I believe) for his shiny new toy.

They still had to select the right group to try to achieve success.

I’ll give GMGM credit for assembling a team that is playing the style he and Gallant envisioned. They made some shrewd moves that have payed off thus far.

The Kings just don't have a good roster, period.

Other than Kopi's fluke career worst season last year, the Kings have had two of the top 10-15 players in the world the last four years and have managed 1 playoff win. Our secondary scoring is bad and our bottom six is among the worst in the league. Those areas need to be addressed this summer.

Don't they have tons of draft picks this year too? And tons of cap space too.

Yeah they did, but they also had early access to free agency to get what they wanted. Early access to talk to coaches. Guaranteed decent positioning in the draft.

Don't really care what the return is, I just want him gone. Unless there is some kind of injury that no one is talking about I could see this guy going the way of Cheechoo/Richards. This is a guy who is completely useless if he isn't scoring.

Did they even sign any name free agents? I honestly can’t think of one off the top of my head.

Gallant was available after he was canned by FLA. Any club could of had him. I believe one of his assistants was with him in FLA as well.

All expansion clubs have been placed within the first few selections in entry drafts. That’s not uncommon,
 
Barring a repeat of 2014 and then some, this team needs to look at dealing a fair amount of roster players this summer (obviously not all are going). Carter, Toffoli, Pearson, one of Martinez and/or Muzzin, Lewis, depth guys going for cheap.

The young guys (Iafallo, Kempe, Amadio, Brodzinski, Berkeley) should be kept with Kopi and Brown (not gonna get anything for him), Quick (if we're copying the Bruins they didn't trade Rask) and try to get Drew long-term or trade him at the draft


Dman-Doughty, Muzzin/Martinez, Laude, Brickley, Folin/Forbort
Forward-Kopitar, Brown, Kempe, Iafallo, Vilardi, Brodzinski, Amadio, etc
 
I was at this game, probably the most disappointing game I've ever seen live. I can't count how many missed calls there were; Vegas played incredibly dirty this game imo. I can't even put into words how disappointing the Kings have been.

It's not even that they played THAT badly in a vacuum; I just don't understand how so many players could be so bad. Our secondary scoring is abysmal, and it doesn't make any sense outside of just that Toffoli and Pearson have forgotten how to play hockey. They constantly lose board battles, get out hustled, and flub every scoring chance.

Phaneuf was garbage this game too, he's been exposed severely by Vegas. Martinez has forgotten how to exit the zone as well.

I've been saying all year that Stevens is not a good coach; whatever SYSTEM he's employed is absolute horse shit. Team can't control the puck and don't know where any of their players will be.

This game was only competitive because Doughty-Muzzin is the best defensive pairing in the series, and played like it.

Trade Martinez, Pearson, Toffoli, Carter, Doughty if he won't sign for a reasonable amount. I'm tired of hoping for anything, this team is done.

What upsets me the most is that this proves the most obnoxious posters on this board right. I hope you're happy, the Kings suck.

The fact that Kyle Clifford is on our team says it all. Wasted roster spot
 
The Kings aren't going to get much for Pearson and Toffoli, that's the tough thing, this is probably the lowest Toffoli's trade value has been. Kings will either get a pick or another disappointing player someone else is trying to move on from with a similar cap hit.

But it's not about the returned value so much as it's just the culture change that moving guys like this provides.

John Stevens has been so badly outcoached by Gallant. We’re seeing the same stupefied stare and inability to make adjustments during the course of a game as we were used to seeing when Terry Murray was behind the bench.

Another failure to perform for more than 40 minutes. Goes to show you how much mental and instestinal fortitude this team has lost since 2014. They’re 1-7-0 in playoff games since then.

Blake needs to put his stamp on this team and rid the organization of dead weight.
