Brisson confirms that EP40 dealt with injury which prevented him from Off-season Training.

I have a huge problem with this. It's worded like EP was just winging it. If true: why the fk did he not go into the off season with a treatment plan from the team's training staff? People need to lose jobs if our star forward didn't have a recovery plan over the off season.

i have tendonitis ..it's the standard treatment plan. the idea "EP was just winging it" is silly

Time will tell. And I really don’t think he will turn it around.
Of course he won’t. This is like when you know you’re facing bankruptcy and the creditors give you a few more weeks to ‘figure things out’

It gives his supporters a few more weeks of excuses. That’s all. The inevitable is still coming.

Pettersson did disclose the injury to the medical staff (Batchelor tweet). It was decided that he could still play.

Then, Tocchet/Management were shocked that Pettersson maintained that he was injured in the post-season presser.

Clearly, they didn't see eye to eye on its severity.
That does seem to be the disagreement. Though I thought you suggested that management didn't see him as injured at all.

Pretendonitis Pete feeling the heat now that JT can’t shelter him so he has his agent do damage control on his behalf.

Never seen a more high maintenance hockey player in my life. Dude is just a total headache all the time for the team, coaching and management.

what a bizarre take after hearing a player is/was injured. yikes

Of course he was injured. He said it himself.

But this is still a player who has 8 points in his last 22 games. If this lack of production was the result of an injury, he wouldn't be going to the 4 Nations. He also had 15 points in the 10 games previous to this terrible stretch, so I don't know how you account for that if his injury was still debilitating.

It obvious to anyone watching him that he has lost his confidence. What caused him to lose it is open to a lot of debate, but whats the point in constantly hashing this out. Hopefully he does well at the 4 Nations and comes back and contributes down the stretch, so we can all move on from this.

It really shouldn't be surprising that EP has lost all his confidence:
1) Bullied by JT for 4 years
2) Working through a tough injury
3) Management/coaching does not believe that you have an injury and constantly goes public with their displeasure
4) Management/coaching gets said bully to bully you some more while you are trying to bring your game back up from injury.
5) All this while trying to adjust to Tocc's style of play which is completely different from what makes EP successful

And because this management team handled Pearson and Mikheyev so well, they get the benefit of the doubt . . . in opposite world, that is

Maybe they're just playing games with the term injury. I'm not sure tendinitis would be considered an injury, more of an ailment or condition. Not sure what the play would be, but.

Google says;

What is the best definition of injury?
physical harm or damage to someone's body caused by an accident or an attack:

I've heard some really bad things about Miller (not sure if true) but allegedly Quinn and DeBrusk had enough and stepped in and went to management and that led to him being the one traded. Allegedly.
I heard Tocchet was showing him what he did wrong on an iPad and Miller took the iPad and threw it across the room.

Still no reason why jt miller needs to be pissed at his teammate. That’s not for him to deal with.

Pure speculation on my part but I think it’s important not to underestimate that a hyper competitive Miller is on an $8m contract and just had a 100pt season and had a great playoffs. All while his rival for the top forward on the team got paid $11.6m, got hurt, then had a pretty meh playoffs and come into the season behind the pace. I can see how someone like Miller won’t give Petey the benefit of the doubt about the injury if they already didn’t get along.

These things can matter to hyper competitive people, and if Miller has a tough time regulating their emotions in stressful environments I can see how this went very sour. There is a reason teams and players are sensitive about the salary structure. I remember Bieksa telling a story about when he was going to sign a new contract but first called Hamhuis to let him know and get his blessing because Bieksa was going to be making a bit more than him. Of course Hamhuis was cool with it because they were mates and he wasn’t a hot head.

As for judging how Petey and his camp should have handled this summer, I have no idea because to judge that you’d need to know a heck of a lot more about the injury and the advice he and the team were each was given etc. I don’t buy that Petey isn’t motivated or doesn’t know how to prepare. Coming into camp in shape had never been an issue and this is a guy who apparently is detailed enough that he broke his shot down into 12 components to improve it when he was a teenager. Perhaps he is just as stubborn as Miller when he thinks he’s right

He played really well last game though. Our best forward.

Not that I'm addicted to drama but yes I am and what are these allegations? 🧐
Not sure if allowed to post the big rumor that went around on Twitter/Reddit but it's allowed to stay on the LA board, so maybe it's allowed to stay here too? Mods can delete if not

Who knows if it's true but it sounds plausible

unless petey was gay then i doubt this incident really means anything at all. thats not enough to send their 2nd best player away for 10 games. that was probably just 1 of many incidents of miller ripping into petey instead of the one that caused any blow up

This has persisted because people believed he was not injured.

He would still be going to the 4Nations even while banged up.

15 points in 10 games while riding high conversion with Hughes. Poor production outside of this blip.

It would be pretty coincidental that his lack of confidence began at the exact time his knee got injured. Barring that, the knee injury has to be the inciting incident here.

Last, his mental make-up was questioned throughout. Unjustly, imo.

In before this gets deleted.

I've heard about this and more. This goes back a long way. Miller was not what we knew.

If true, it's extremely unsettling to me how everyone still went out of their way to protect the guy (i.e. he's just such a competitive person, heart on his sleeve, etc) when to me he is just a vicious bully with anger management problems.

It honestly just makes me more annoyed how obvious this was and how many stupid arguments I got into for an entire year over something so clear to see with a bunch of people who obviously have no interest in being honest or fair in their opinions and observations of EP.

I’m surprised at how many people are surprised by this news lol
Most aren't. It's just a small, very loud minority who dug in last year on the "he's not injured/it's not a significant injury" train, and now refuse to acknowledge they were wrong no matter how much new evidence and proof from every party involved that comes out.

After completely botching Pearson's injury and making Mikheyev play on a broken leg during meaningless games, canuck management and medical staff has not earned the benefit of the doubt when it comes to player injuries. IMO this disconnect between Pettersson's injury and management is strike 3 for me. Clean house, fire absolutely everyone that is even slightly considered a healthcare worker or has access to bandaids and start from scratch.
