I’m ok with Blake as of now. He seems to have found a potential first line player with his first draft pick, that’s one more than we drafted the previous decade. And he’s signed a couple of college FA’s who look like NHL regulars. I still would have cleaned house completely of anything Sutter/Lombardi but Blake has pulled his weight, Stevens not so much.

Blake's done good so far.

Looking forward to what he does this offseason--this year was clearly mostly 'holding pattern' but he did some good things that help the future AND present frankly, like the Phaneuf trade. If nothing else, guy can play bottom pairing, and is a way better leader than Gabby.

The really frustrating thing is that it never had to get to this point. It wasn’t as if they were an ancient team who went all in and traded their picks to win the cups. When they won the cup in 2014 the prospect pool was thin because of trades and poor drafting but they still had all their picks and could/should have been able to add young players who would have been contributing by now.

But then Dean Lombardi completely lost his mind and it’s going to cost us years to recover from it.

Most general managers never get the chance to learn how to manage a team post-two championships in three years. I harbor no ill will with Lombardi whatsoever. He got us to the promised land - twice - and found himself in an extremely unique position thereafter.

He was also completely blindsided by multiple off ice scandals, and didn’t react to them well. Let’s go back in time to 1999 and see how Holland reacts to Federov becoming addicted to pain pills and falling off a cliff, and his #2 D deciding to beat up his wife and never playing another game. Oh, and he has to deal with a cap, too.

Lombardi deserves criticism for trying to save a sinking ship, but he didn’t cause it to start sinking in the first place. Even if he buys out Richards in 2014, we’re still down several major assets in what was supposed to be a cornerstone player for years and years.

I couldn't believe players were going for a change with 20 seconds left and the play still active down 1 goal with the net empty in game 3 of the playoffs. Is Stevens the Dave Roberts of hockey? Does he treat every game like a regular season game?

I couldn't believe they didn't get a decent shot off or had any setup time once they made it 3-2. I watched it again and it was awful how bad they looked. Losing the faceoff, then Doughty's icing just wrecked everything.

Hear, hear. What a crazy fall from grace this team has had.

Who here was it that compared them to the Cowboys? We'll never hear more behind the scenes, but they flamed out like a rock band

Unless Blake is moving some major pieces for a real shakeup, I’m afraid it’ll be another year of switching seats on the Titanic.

The Lucic trade was turning the cannon around and firing it into your own ship.

Didn't like it at first but he's definitely not been bad so far, and obviously can't blame him for not adding a ton to the NHL roster as of now. This offseason it where it gets interesting

I don't disagree. Let me rephrase.

I'm looking forward to seeing what moves Blake makes this summer because it will give us an indication of what direction they're taking--major shakeup, or draw out the inevitable.

Six months until hockey season... Going to be a long six months. Hope the Kings at least go out with a bang and don't hang Quick out to dry.

Yeah I wasn't upset with game 2, that was every heart out on the ice. Kind of wish that was the series-ending game.

Tonight was a dirty loss because this team is supposed to be KILLER In the third period.

Stevens apparently steaming about the hit to Kopi's face. I feel bad for Kopi, but I couldn't care less at this point. It's pretty clear the refs don't care and the DoPS doesn't care, but more so, waiting till VGK has their foot on our necks to start working the media just looks pathetic.

Should be interesting. I don't think Blake has any problem making the tough moves. Would not surprise me one bit to see some major pieces traded this summer.

For football comparisons, they actually remind me of the Redskins in the 80s. Winning a few championships with hardnosed play in the middle of an era that included Peak 49ers, but ultimately flaming out because it's too hard to maintain that kind of play and coaches grind on you.

After Kopitar's goal it was completely obvious that the Kings had to make a line change or call a timeout. Instead Stevens sends out a bunch of players that are completely gassed. They had no chance at all. That's why they couldn't do anything in the last minute. I don't care how good you are, you're going to be ineffective playing what essentially amounts to 3 straight shifts.

I'm not blaming the game on him, but that was complete mismanagement by the coach.

Also, the Kings probably need to change their philosophy on player utilization from 2-way play to specialization.
