Being forced to watch this should be required pennance for all haters, whiners, and know-it-all critics of Bills LBs and their play
It's really just Edmunds people complain about because when he misses, it's pretty visible. But those are the few and far between plays, mostly he's locking down the middle in coverage, monitoring a gap or two, or hustling to cover an area of the field that isn't even his domain. I'd pay him over Poyer just due to age and the fact that he's criminally underrated on this board (thankfully for his wallet, that isnt the case around the league)

Amen. The video analysis helps educate the tipping of the scales a bit.

Anyone with more knowledge than me know if the D has been playing more man coverage lately?

Seems to me that we've been mixing it up.....and also varying schemes based on the talent we've faced at WR. The Ravens' WRs largely suck, so it looks like we went man on them and brackets Andrews pretty literally everywhere.

Went high zone against LAR and Miami. TEN game doesn't really matter as it got out of hand FAST.

On the one hand, I get it. Pickett's likely the better QB and gives PIT the better chance to win.

But.......I REALLY don't think this is the time to voluntarily give a rookie his first career start -- on the road, in a madhouse against one of the best defenses (teams) in the league.

I know it's not Pittsburgh's style........but IMO the best course of action is to let Trubisky get obliterated until their bye and then get Pickett in there.

Or Rudolph

They have one of the highest zone coverage rates in the NFL.

Edit: on reviewing the video, I think that play was actually zone press. Although Elam sticks with his man down field, the nickel doesn't abandon the slot to follow his man until after the play develops. The rest of the field looks like zone. So at the very least I'd say it's not traditional man.

That said, very happy to see they're utilizing Elam's press skills, me it in zone or man or however.

With Watt not playing im not as worried as last year. I think they'll win it's just a matter of how much.
(and)
While anything can happen in the NFL (i.e. us losing to the Jags last year or the Chiefs losing to the Colts last week), I feel pretty confident going into this matchup, given our historical success in stopping rookie QBs. While Pittsburgh's defense is still tough, we won't have to deal with Watt being a one-man wrecking crew like he was for most of the game last year. It would be nice if the o-line could gel a bit more and develop a running game outside of Allen, but I'm not holding my breath.
Bills had no answer for Melvin Ingram last year. He ran roughshod over Dawkins (recuperating from COVID). Ingram no longer with the Steelers.
I think Leslie Frazier is underrated by a lot. No coach bats 1000% and the Chiefs playoff game stands out but for our defense to continue to perform at this crazy high level with all the different players and injuries is impressive.
Frazier deserves a game ball from Sunday's win. And the Chiefs playoff, the issue as I understand it was the correct schemes were called, but the players didn't communicate / execute.

=====================================
It's tough to keep track of who is injured and out (Hyde, Crowder, Tre White, whom else?), who is injured and may play (Oliver, Phillips?, whom else?), and who is hobbled but will likely play (Davis). HAve to be a dozen Bills total on those lists, and only a couple of them are lower-tier talents. I guess we'll know more tomorrow (Wednesday).
