I'm all for intense practice sessions, but this is ridiculous. We simply can't have our players on concussion protocols resulting from deliberate collisions in practice.

I know Marner isn't the most durable guy, but there's still no excuse for this sort of thing.
Where is the proof he isn’t durable, does he have some injury history I don’t know about? Last I checked he doesn’t.

My guess is that would depend how much they win

That will likely be a major factor... along with when he is actually healthy, and how many games he's away from being eligible for LTIR. If it's just one or two more games, they might hold him out anyway, but anything more and he's in.

What the heck is Muzzin doing in practice vs Marner that he isn’t in live game situations against the opposition?

Likely two players skating into each other, without either seeing the other coming.

So marner probably has a cracked rib (intercostal strain) or more likely a separated shoulder.

It's possible. Saw him try to stretch his arm out.

looks like shoulder 3-4 weeks from keefe. I wonder if that’s from today or time of injury. A month for a minor separated shoulder makes sense

bad timing if olympics are a thing. I don’t see how he gets left off the team but man that sucks. No wonder he was fired up. Injured in practice before olympics.

Sucks Marner is out for weeks, but something forgotten due to the winning streak is just how bad of a season Marner is having.

Marner was pacing for 20 goals/75 points PRE injury. Simply unacceptable for an 11 million dollar player. Don't let future inevitable "injury plagued season" narratives take control. He was pacing for 20 goals/75 points PRE injury.

Sorry, I meant to reference his stature.

In any event, it is inexcusable that any of our players have to miss 3-4 weeks due to deliberate contact in practice.

What if something like this happens again right before the playoffs?

Bad news for him and the team. Neither a rib or shoulder injury would be fun. Both are painful experiences.

Seeing the good in all, there will at least be some vital Cap space freed up due to the injury, if I am understanding the way the cap system works. I admit, I'm too lazy to learn all of the ins and outs. Leafs just need to play their team game focusing on defense first and get back on track.

If there was ever a game, even a horrible loss that would forge the team forward in a commited effort to be playoff strong, the game against the Jets would have been it.

Was it 'deliberate contact'?

This is dumb. LOOK AT HIS PACE IN NOVEMBER.
