They came to an agreement after missing half the season. Was it Nylander who took the deal he was handed or the GM who called and took Nylanders offer?

Yeha that was not handeled great on any part. They came to an agreement after missing half the season.
he has 13 sponsors including a major bank, insurance and red bull…. You don’t think he’s making in the millions on endorsements?
Nope, it wasn't. Live and learn.Yeha that was not handeled great on any part.
it could have sent a message league wide that he is not a GM to be trifled with, and will not bend for any player, and at the time there was a bunch of like players also looking for contracts that could have made a lateral move, or a huge defensive improvement.
Also needing to be signed were
Point (TB wouldnt have dealt him)
Rantanen (possible 1-1 swap)
Tkachuck (would have gotten an add for the Leafs)
McAvoy (Boston wouldnt have dealt him)
Connor (would have gotten a big add(s) for the Leafs back then)
Laine (?? if it would have been considered then)
Werenski (i'd have to think CBJ would have gone for it)
Konecny (would have gotten a big add(s) for the Leafs)
Provorov (?? if it would have been considered then)
Aho (would have gotten an add for the Leafs then)
...and this was just the top RFA's that off season, though the UFA's were nothing special.

IIRC it was Nylander who called the GM at more or less the last minute. I believe many are claiming it was the other way around and it was Dubas who caved, it seems that people believe what they want to believe and when all else fails, they even make up stuff to suit their narratives.
Pot, meet kettle.
