He said he was disappointed with the response. Just because he said coming out and playing better and trying to win was a form of a response doesn't mean he appreciated how they responded physically.

It sounds like the team as a whole had a discussion about it and from what I saw it was lead by Reaves and Tavares... Keefe said it to the media and I think (not 100% sure) I saw he said it to the

And they still lost. Hence why I brought up the handshake line comment. I’m glad they tried harder though.

They also said they addressed killer instinct after the Montreal series. I’ll believe it when I see it.

Shout to Grabovski for battling through like multiple concussions in the same game and still getting it done and engaging Chara on the boards. Where are our tough Euros?!

Kulemin gets no love but he took out Lucic and McQuaid with massive hits. I remember McQuaid chasing him down the ice

Kuli when he wanted was a beast. Grabowski was a psycho. His games against the Habs were worth every penny

The response should had been on the ice. To be honest, I think what Marchand did and what Perry did in the Habs series was abit worse. As the Perry hit on JT was just really bad timing. Yet Foligno took care of that.
Just don’t understand why there was no response from anyone except Kilngberg with some extra cross check when Marchand gets into the corner.
When the Leafs play physical they often wins. Just look at how Reaves was involved in the first two games of the season and now. Keefe really might be coaching the guys to tone down being physical but why is he doing that?

I am disappointed too.

The team seems like a bunch of individuals right now, I really hope this brings them closer together and they start standing up for one another and it leads to better overall team chemistry. The season is young, they have time to grow.

I don't even think the crosschecks were for that, I think they just got tangled up, but ya, disappointing and I hope the talks they had are addressing the lack of team right now

Seemed like both times JT and AM were dragged into it instead of starting it.

I mean I wouldn't call either of them fighters, and I used "fight" for Matthews because it wasn't much of one... I don't expect them to really fight, they aren't Iggy or anything, the scrums bother me more. At least Tavares tries in scrums but Matthews avoids a lot or just grabs guys.

Me too man and that’s my greatest concern as well. They don’t seem to be a team but a collection of highly talented players. I look at Boston and it seems whichever scrub/reclamation project they bring in seems to fit like a glove. Even a bum like Foligno was a decent player there. It speaks a lot about the cohesion of their team and culture. After all this group has been through together, I expect much more in that regard.

Like you said though season is young. We’ll see what happens. I’m still going to bitch though

Even McDavid and Mack fought and started stuff. And that’s the difference between those guys and our guys.

Also if they have to have meetings to discuss their brotherhood & standing up for each other, that really answers how close they really are & gives even more credibility to the Reaves signing. The room is rotten/divided and it's now public.

They stuck up for each other before though... and Simmonds was the Reaves of past years.

I am not sure what you're saying is true.

Although I think Boston is an exception for the league and most teams don't have that ability, I am envious of them. They seem like one of the few teams who can insert a random player into a lineup and they succeed. Not sure if this is a scouting thing or a leadership thing because it has happened across multiple coaches, but when you have guys like Chara and Bergeron passing along their knowledge about the game it can't hurt.

McDavid has won nothing, missed the playoffs more than our guys, and has won I think 3 more rounds in a career that is a year longer.

I'd rather more bite from our guys, but it isn't like McDavid is some shining example of if you try real hard and start rough stuff it'll lead to success.

Mack is a guy who will do that stuff and yes I know he won the cup, but the rest of his career is either 2nd round exits or missing the playoffs.

I am just trying to say that I don't think it necessarily leads to success, but I'd also like more of it, I agree with you.

That line with MacArthur (who was also a tough cookie) was a joy to watch.

Don't google the number of fights he got or someone will take your driving license.

Not sure what you are getting at, but I said the page led to a 500 error meaning the page didn't load correctly due to an error, and he has 0 fights. Not sure if you thought I said he had 500.

they don't stand up they have to be dragged into standing up for one another and its inconsistent and not in their DNA.

This team is so unlikeable for me. Even when they admit they should have responded, you hear them say “we discussed it”. You learn this when you’re 8. If you have to discuss it amongst yourselves or have a team meeting about “responding “ you ain’t got it and you ain’t ever going to get it

Stamkos absolutely manhandled Matthews, it wasn't far off from Chara/McCabe lol

Imagine having to require a meeting to talk about how you should stick up for your teammates...absolutely disgusting

Honestly, how many times have we heard "we understand we have to be better"?

Its almost worse hearing that again.
