I consider the facts the facts, instead of attempting appeals to fake authorities that make a living out of generating controversy and clicks, not having correct opinions.
To a man, every single person who has expressed an opinion on the Leafs lack of response has had the same train of thought. Just cause they don't agree with your way of thinking doesn't make them clickbait or wrong....that's very narrow minded.

I'd rather go with guys who have played in the league and are paid to talk hockey on TV & radio rather than a guy who spends all day trolling on message boards. That's just 'converting badly'

That's not true, but of course most media personalities are going to defer to a similar talking point, because they've all done the same calculation on what generates the most clicks and makes them the most money. Just because they've learned to exploit fans and your way of thinking, that doesn't make them correct.
Them not agreeing with me doesn't make them wrong. The facts make them wrong.
What you're doing is just classic "appeal to authority" fallacy.

Your way of thinking screams someone that has never been part of a team. You simply do not understand team dynamics. A team that turns the other cheek when a teammate is injured by a notoriously dirty player will
never accomplish anything. This is a sickening group of individuals.

Breaking News: guy who never gets it, still doesn’t get it.

No point arguing with a guy is so confident in his wrongness.

Oh, I've been part of plenty of teams and understand team dynamics perfectly fine. If somebody thinks team dynamics just means throwing punches any time anything happens, they don't know team dynamics very well, or realize what the rest of the league does. They're just thirsty for violence.

Mentally strong and "let's pound this guy for hurting our player" are two very different things. There is no one on the planet who would ever label Crosby, Malkin and Letang as the second coming of Clark Gillies (the single toughest and strongest player I have ever seen play, and that includes guys like Probert, O'Reilly, etc.). They were simply more talented and played to a better overall team system than their competitors. The Leafs have had plenty of tough players, and allegedly have the toughest one in the league now, but it doesn't make a difference. What they need is more talent at key positions and better coaching.

As for the Cup going through Boston, people are once again overstating what that team is, just as they did last season. Boston isn't winning anything this year. I don't even see the need to comment on Tampa. They will be lucky to make the playoffs at all. You can see first hand on Monday what Tampa looks like when they play on the road.

It doesn't matter if Tampa or Boston win the Cup.

The question is: Can we advanced going against Tampa or Boston. Because we have to if we want to win the Cup ourselves.

People should stop referring to Tampa as if they were the team they used to be. They are barely wild card quality at this point. And remind me again how Boston did last season?

How do you know only one Tampa player saw the Cernak iincident? How do you know everybody saw what happened to Liljegren? If anything, it would be harder to see the Liljegren incident. At first glance, it just looks like he caught an edge and went down. Marchand sneakily sticking his stick in there and lifting his foot would be really hard to see mid-game unless you were directly next to it (like the ref). Our players are constantly attacked by our fans for not engaging on plays that nobody saw.

And what about after they all found out what happened? Isn't the idea supposed to be that they spend the rest of the game taking out our players? Or does that only apply for us? And are we really going to say that the Tampa player lightly brushing against Bunting as he skates by is a response? Heck, Matthews literally fought last playoffs and people still say it doesn't count because it wasn't vicious enough.

What about this one where nobody did anything?

Everybody missed that too I guess?

Bro stop Matthews did not fight. He never attempted to throw a punch. Honestly he was closer to semin throwing a couple gloved bitch slaps towards him. At least he didn’t full turtle I guess?

Keefe saying the right things, by why not address this on the bench? In the intermission?

I don’t believe him that ‘it’s been addressed’

This team doesn’t want to fight for each other, or Keefe can’t get them too, or Keefe is lying about wanting them to.

Either way, the problem revolves around coaching

Found this on Reddit, I screen capped it cuz twitter sucks now....

Talking the talk, let's see them walk the walk.

So the goon talked about how they had an after school session to talk about their lack of actions in the 2 full periods after a teammate was hurt… in Year 8 of our core guys careers.

I wonder what Tavares had to say about all this as captain. Didn’t see him even go to Marchand grab him by the collar and speak to him man to man.

Soft, overpaid, nonchalant losers.

This'll never change as long as the ultrasoft 4 are around

That's exactly what I'm thinking. It's not like this group just got assembled 5 months ago. These p***yes have been together far too long. They'll never figure it out, theyll keep losing, and the usual suspects will keep defending them

They had the best regular season in NHL history. For all the talk about our great regular season, we can't win our division.

They still have one of the best D corps in the league, potentially the best goaltender duo. They also have a 100-point winger in Marchand and 60 goal scorer in Pasta.

They can Goalie anyone. Plus Pasta can score hatty and steal you one. They blew it last year, and took a step back, but they remain built for playoffs.

Tampa should be easy for Leafs. But considering Stamkos can bitch slap Matthews at will, it will be close.

This is the physicality, passion, stick up for each other teams (plus florida) that we need to beat

Stamkos absolutely manhandled Matthews, it wasn't far off from Chara/McCabe lol

Imagine having to require a meeting to talk about how you should stick up for your teammates...absolutely disgusting

It's all good now. They talked about it and they all felt Liljegren pain.

A couple of thoughts and prayers tweets next pls Captain

f*** you Tavares. You're not my Captain. You are everything that is wrong with this organization.
Tavares had a chance to show some balls and just sat there looking into the void like some autistic drone.

He's a great player but an NHL captain needs to be a goddamn animal, an alpha male, not some shy wallflower.

Even Sheldon Keefe said he hated the response from the team.

Love Keefes answer. "I hated everything about it. We discussed it"

Glad they discussed it. Perhaps this was a blessing in disguise. They got called the f*** out, never let that crap happen again. If thats what it took so be it.

Tavares has been strong on the ice this year and deserves a lot of credit for improved play on the ice as a member of the team, generally no complaints as a player… but is not functionally a captain…

Any time the Leafs have adversity or encounter difficult moments, Tavares calls it a learning moment. Like implying he and the team didn’t have prior awareness of what the moment required. All well and good but if you lack emotional IQ and situational awareness perhaps you shouldn’t be in a leadership situation. Just wear the A and collect your cookies.

Still I don't understand what was said or not said in the dressing room in the first and second intermission when I'm sure Leafs fans group chats and Hfboards were discussing the very thing...

I'm glad this is what Keefe had to say on the matter, but the PR damage control aspect of this whole thing still makes me think these players are seriously messed up. If the chemistry looks bad and the team looks like Big 4 and an NBA bench and that's how they behave, I think that's closer to the truth than they're a 'brotherhood.'
