Yankees prospect development is a sight to behold.

Yankees prospect development is a sight to behold.

can't have bust prospects if you never let your prospects play until their 30s or you trade them away

Just give Cashman and Boone lifetime contracts and be done with it.

^ I love the no beards rule. Baseball moustaches only are awesome. It's boring when most pro athletes have some type of half or full beard. I'm watching the NYY game.

So I logged in to SNY to catch a bit of the spring training game and there's a message that SNY streaming will be moving to MLB.TV by Opening Day. And accessing MLB.TV is through an MLB.com account. So that means they'll be able to detect that I'm in DC and therefore out of market. Which means I'm blacked out. From the looks of it, they're centralizing regional TV partners around the country into MLB.TV: https://www.mlb.com/live-stream-games

So I can't use my parents' Verizon account to watch through the SNY app in DC. This was working as if I'm a Mets fan with a cable TV subscription in NY but maybe I'm traveling out of the area but still can watch games via the app. The new scheme by MLB basically outlaws anyone who's not in the NY area from accessing the games unless you subscribe to one of their out-of-market TV subscriptions. That's how I interpreted it. So even if you really live in NY (unlike me) and have SNY through cable or something, and you happen to be out of the area, you can't watch. FAQs: SNY streaming has a new home on the MLB App

SNY is intended for use in the Mets home television territory and is not an out of market product. This offer is only for Mets fans in the Club’s Home Television Territory and is a separate service than the MLB.TV out of market package.

As for YES and the Yankees, YES was moved to Gotham. Does MLB have the power to take YES away from Gotham, which is an MSG and YES joint venture? I haven't seen any notice put out over Gotham.

@will1066 I think the teams get to decide how they want to offer a standalone in market so the Yankees won't be impacted on Gotham.

I think for out of market you can get individual teams from mlb(.)tv or the full service.

If you know anyone with T-Mobile or have it, we've gotten the full mlb streaming package for years for free. I just claim it and let my father use it. Have never had an issue.

I think this is kind of what's happening with the Mets and SNY. The streaming rights go to MLB, which offers a single-team subscription for out-of-market fans. If you have a TV provider, you can still stream for free, without an MLB sub, by linking your TV provider credentials to MLB.TV -- when you're within market. Once you're beyond the TV territory, all bets are off. Sucks for me because I would have to pay to watch the Mets now, with SNY being an in-market-only entity now.

You're right about YES. I read that it is more powerful and has national distribution so, it offers ouf of market access.
