NeelyDan's Friday Five:

1. Ever deliberately broken up with someone ahead of a holiday to avoid that additional timing-related stress?
2. Do you give money to the homeless when approached on the street, out front of the supermarket, etc.?
3. Paying very close attention to your surroundings, what do you hear at this very moment? Be detailed.
4. What race/sex is your God?
5. What was the last significant lie you told? Cleanse thyself, brothers and sisters, in this sea of relative anonymity.

1. Yes. Matter of fact, my buddies used to expect it.
2. Directly to homeless, no. But I give generously to homeless causes.
3. Email ding. Coworker typing. Several large embedded platform cooling fans. An air purifier.
4. Never thought about it that way.
5. I basically find it impossible to lie, even when it benefits me or keeps me out of trouble.

1. Ever deliberately broken up with someone ahead of a holiday to avoid that additional timing-related stress?

Nope. Would say there were times when I thought about when the proper time would be, though.

2. Do you give money to the homeless when approached on the street, out front of the supermarket, etc.?

My buddy Hoop took his own life in 2014. One of the gifts he gave me was his approach to this - he had a "rule" for himself that if someone (homeless or otherwise) asked him for money, he would give them whatever he had on him. Sometimes it was nothing. Sometimes it was a hundred bucks, and a few times even more. I adopted that rule as a silent tribute to him.

3. Paying very close attention to your surroundings, what do you hear at this very moment? Be detailed.

Cars whirring by the front of my apartment complex. Seinfeld playing quietly in the other room. I believe the Close Talker episode.

4. What race/sex is your God?

Not a believer. Would like to be, but am not.

5. What was the last significant lie you told? Cleanse thyself, brothers and sisters, in this sea of relative anonymity.

Corporate life finds you having to lie by omission a lot, I suppose that. Can't be honest about pending cutbacks until you're cleared to, etc.

One who frequents bars that have female dancers for entertainment.

Iv'e been clean for about 40 years now. But its still one day at a time.

Wally laughed so I want to as well, but.....I'm almost afraid to lol

I don't think it matters where you live, car thefts have exploded. In the last month, my nephew had his new Lexus stolen and my sister-in-law's brother had two attempted thefts on his vehicle. They aren't in big cities but are about 30 minutes outside of the Toronto area.

My nephew was woken up at 2 am by a neighbour because he witnessed the vehicle being driven off. He had GPS in it and could see it was at a gas station close by. He called the police and they sent 5 cars, my nephew arrived there at the same time. The thieves had 3 cars there, gassing them up. The police surrounded the station but they drove the stolen cars over the curbs etc, long story short, they lost them after a chase because the speeds were too high.

He checked his porch camera and the thieves took about 15 minutes maneuvering the car to get it out. He had parked it close to the garage with his wife's car behind. They managed to get it out.
The next day Fedex came to his door and handed him his GPS and ownership - the thieves had thrown them out the window and a Fedex driver had spotted them.

He just picked up a new Lexus and had a theft protection device installed. They can get in the car but they can't start it without the code on the keyfob. Since the device is put in different parts of cars, the thieves don't have time to find it and remove it. Hopefully it works.
No it doesn't matter, there are car thefts everywhere but all ^^ of your examples are in Canada, correct?

4. Not a believer in a God. I wish I could be but you can't fool yourself.

5. I honestly can't remember. I have trouble with lying. I am a blusher too, so hard to do.

1. Ever deliberately broken up with someone ahead of a holiday to avoid that additional timing-related stress?

No...people actually do that?

2. Do you give money to the homeless when approached on the street, out front of the supermarket, etc.?

No, I donate money and time in other ways.

3. Paying very close attention to your surroundings, what do you hear at this very moment? Be detailed.

Leaves and wind. It's gusty out there today, and my husband has the day off and is raking. Plus typing sounds.

4. What race/sex is your God?

I'm more spiritual than religious.

5. What was the last significant lie you told? Cleanse thyself, brothers and sisters, in this sea of relative anonymity.

A friend told my husband about a mutual friend's cancer diagnosis. Friend who told my husband said he was going to tell me the next day. Obviously, my husband told me (don't ask/expect spouses to keep secrets from each other, people) and I put on quite the acting display of feigning surprise when he told me.

1. No
2. Occasionally. It usually depends if I have cash on me or not.
3. A work conference call that I'm currently on, and pretending to pay attention to...
4. All races/sexes.
5. Significant Lie? Really cant think of one. I've told a lot of little white lies though, usually to try to be polite and not hurt someone's feelings unnecessarily.

stunningly honest people amongst us

OR YOU'RE ALL LYING
I think the "significant" part was what throws me off. If we go back to when I was a teenager, I lied all the time to my parents about where I was and what I was up to, used to skip school and blamed the computer for all the absences on my report card. Since high school, I have been an angel ;)

We went there for half of our honeymoon. First week in Montreal, second week in Quebec City. It's an incredibly gorgeous city. Lots of history, culture, views etc. I wonder if they'll have the Ice Hotel available in December?
You can take a tour in the Frontenac (it's a few bucks, but they take you to see the rooms that famous people stayed in like JFK).
Your hotel looks great too, and I'm sure it will be. I was actually looking at hotels online in Quebec when Mrs. G and I got back from our Toronto vacation in September. I'm going to check out the hotel that you posted, maybe stay there if we go in the next year.
BTW: Are you driving???

Be very careful, there's a huge car theft ring going on up there and it was all over tv. The cars end up in Africa. On one of the Boston news stations they had a report about Bostonians having their cars disappear while on vacation in Montreal. Our cars are fairly new and I was thinking that the next time up there we'll drive but now, I'd probably rent a car if I drive into Canada.
Found It:
We are driving. Thanks for the tips.

1. Nope!

2. Yes. If I have it. Absolutely. I have this thing, even as a child, the song "What if God was one of us"? And I've always thought to myself, what if I have money on me, and a stranger or homeless person is begging for money, if I turn them down, what if that was God? Or some sort of being as a test to see if I care? And I care deeply. So. If I can. And if I'm able to, I give. Sure, some might use it for booze, some might be pulling trucks, or some might actually be homeless. Either way. I don't care what they do with the money. If I'm helping someone who is asking for help, I don't mind. I'd like to think if the situation was turned around, would someone help me? And that's how I life my life.

3. Trash truck or recycling truck outside the neighboring street. Birds chirping. My mom eating lunch, watching Friends. And the leaves rustling around outside the window.

4. My God is Male. God is omnipresence. He is everywhere and everything. Like I said before, I am a proud practicing Roman Catholic. But if others want to refer to God as anything else, that doesn't bother me. Your personal relationship to God or to something is none of my business. I just know my personal relationship to him. Everyone is different.

5. I'm not a liar. Truly. Ask my friends and family lol my "lies" are trivial compared to peoples. But the other night, I ordered food for my parents and sister and I thought I ordered the correct item for my mom but I didn't realize I clicked the wrong item until it came. So in a panic I blamed the app I used. It must of had a glitch. That lasted about 10 minutes and then told my mom what happened. She wasn't mad at all. But I felt guilty. I don't lie to my parents, especially my mom. All you have to say to me if you want to know the truth to something is to say "Swear to God". I've never, ever lied when that is said to me, and I never will. Which is why my friends will say I am too nice and too forthcoming with the truth. I'm the middle child okay! I had to fight lol

No. However that stress ruined relationships
I do. I purposefully carry some cash for that. We all use cards now and I worry. Usually the same few
Trust me... this is ww

No. however I had relationships end afterwards because
I do. I actually make a point of having cash on me for that purpose. As everyone uses cards now. If I don't have cash I'll give them a smoke or a beer.
My paintings are built on background noise and visuals. I can talk about that all day.
Atheist
I lie to myself all the time. My gal thinks I'm making money and working but decided (without telling her) (she knows) if I could go a full year with $0 income. Tax return time is going to be funny. We're fine... but she'll definitely shake her head.

I love the part about not factoring in what the recipient does with the money. My god, if the person needs booze to hold them up for a night who in the heck am I to judge. I’m still helping, even if that help is short sighted.

Ladyfan knows this but tapped a guy on the arm yesterday. Most innocuous thing and he turned and cold cocked me. Threw another as I was like 'what the f***?'. As I turned to walk away he caught me again in the shoulder which aches today.
I'm no shrinking violet and can take a punch but it was so f***ing random that I didn't know how to respond.
Too many people are angry.
Some 6'4" 240lb decently dressed dude.

Glad he never had a knife and that it was me and not my gal, kids or someone else.
